Eternal Reunion Falls Apart Over Trans Rights Row

As a lifestyle expert, I might say something like this: “Reflecting on my past experiences, I find myself reminiscing about the time when we, Eternal, had a chance to reunite. However, the unfortunate events that transpired in 2023, particularly the LGBTQ+ conflict, unfortunately steered us off course. It’s essential to foster understanding and inclusivity within any group, and I wholeheartedly support these values.

In 1992, the singer, who was then 50 years old, teamed up with Kéllé Bryan and the Bennett sisters (Easther and Vernie) to create an R&B girl group. However, she openly expressed feelings of sadness and loneliness while being part of the band.

In 1995, I found myself embarking on a solo journey, an unexpected turn from our original plans, as my bandmates and I were distinct personalities with unique paths.

Additionally, she made another attempt to criticize Easther and Vernie, asserting that during her toughest times, members of the LGBTQ+ community provided unwavering support for her, a commitment she considers indispensable, while revisiting the contentious trans rights disagreement with her sisters.

In an interview with The Independent, Louise expressed her thoughts about being referred to as ‘the Beyoncé’ of the band, stating: “That description is completely off-base. I felt quite lost. I didn’t believe I was contributing anything. My self-confidence was at a low point. Despite my lifelong dream of becoming a pop star, I was deeply unhappy.

In a heartfelt confession, I can’t help but share the intimate connection I forged with Robbie Williams during those unforgettable tour days when Eternal backed Take That. You see, we found ourselves kindred spirits, both of us grappling with feelings of solitude and an unspoken sense that we were the misfits within our respective bands.

Reflecting on her departure from the group, she commented: ‘Leaving felt weak initially, yet upon reflection, it was strong – I recognized my deep sadness. At that time, I was in my early twenties, and it wasn’t expected to feel sad at such a stage of life. It wasn’t part of the plan, as I genuinely cherished being a member of the band. We were simply distinct personalities.’

During her contemplation about withdrawing from a joint Eternal reunion tour with Kelle in September 2023, it was reported that Vernie and Easther allegedly declined to perform at any scheduled LGBTQ+ events due to assertions that the community had been taken over by the trans movement.

Louise once more expressed her solidarity with transgender rights and the LGBTQ+ community, acknowledging the Bennett sisters’ convictions, yet emphasizing that she must uphold her personal values.

She expressed: ‘There are certain unchangeable aspects in my life. The queer community has been by my side since the beginning. Without them, I wouldn’t have my music career, and they’ve supported me during my toughest times. While I understand that you hold your own beliefs, and that’s what works for you – it doesn’t mean our paths should be the same. I have my journey, they have theirs. For me, making this decision was not difficult.’

Back in the 90s, this artist exploded onto the scene, and last year they were preparing for a massive comeback tour. The itinerary would have featured shows at Pride and Mighty Hoopla, with these events being among the most anticipated highlights.

While both celebrations honor the LGBTQ+ community, it seems that the scheduled dates for these events didn’t sit well with devout Christian sisters Easther and Vernie.

It came to light that Louise and her group were informed by Vernie and Easther that they wouldn’t participate in any events related to Pride celebrations or LGBTQ+ festivals.

According to Louise’s representative, a communication was made to the organization planning the Eternal reunion, indicating that neither Vernie nor Easther would participate in Pride events or LGBTQ+ gatherings if the reunion were to occur.

This stemmed from the duo’s belief that the LGBTQ+ community was being taken over by the transgender community, which is a development they are not in favor of.

Louise strongly advocates for and stands in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. She, along with Kelle, made it clear that they would not collaborate with individuals holding these beliefs. Consequently, the planned four-person reunion will not take place due to this stance.

As a devoted supporter, I’m proud to be part of the team advocating for the Eternal Reunion. Notably, our entire team – from management, public relations, to tour promoters – identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community, particularly gay. It’s crucial for us that we align with artists who respect and understand the trans community, a principle we firmly uphold, and one that I personally adhere to, ensuring our collaborations are inclusive and supportive.

In response to the assertions put forth by Louise’s team, Vernie expressed her views differently by stating that she feels fortunate to have interacted with an array of diverse and extraordinary individuals from various backgrounds throughout her professional journey.

Initially, Eternal’s former manager, Denis Ingoldsby, vigorously stood up for Easther and Vernie, his current clients, who he stated were deeply affected by the situation. He had earlier criticized Louise’s team for twisting facts in a personal email they shared.

As a devoted admirer, I’d express it like this: “I’m utterly astonished and dismayed! Louise and her crew have callously thrown others under the bus, and their abhorrent bullying tactics are leaving everyone in shock. They’ve twisted the truth to further their own interests, and it’s simply appalling.

The girls emailed Louise’s camp expressing their enjoyment of playing Pride, and their appreciation for the spirit of the occasion.

It’s completely unacceptable for their camp to imply they are against people who are homosexual, as this has nothing to do with advocating for LGBTQ+ rights.

I’ve shared her sentiments when Vernie expressed worries that the Pride movement might be co-opted, as it seems many others do too. Unfortunately, her views have been used against her, with Louise’s supporters attempting to silence her through cancel culture.

Nonetheless, Simon Jones, Louise’s representative who also manages artists like RAYE, Girls Aloud, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, countered Denis’ assertions by affirming that they continue to uphold their earlier statements.

He shared with the press: “Denis Ingoldsby did not take part in the conversations regarding the Eternal reunion involving all four members during the past two years. Easther and Vernie might as well attempt to present it in a more appealing manner.

It’s clear that the pair have stated their condition for the Eternal reunion is that no Pride or LGBTQ+ events should be involved.

It’s clear that Louise wouldn’t support leaving out the LGBTQ+ community in their travel arrangements. As a group, we firmly oppose segregating the LGBTQ+ community or denying transgender individuals participation.

The caption read, “Forever committed.” This action signified my decision to step away from the tour, symbolizing that my dedication remains unwavering, even in new directions.

The flag was designed in 2018 by non-binary artist Daniel Quasar, and it draws heavy inspiration from the widely recognized 1978 rainbow flag.

In this depiction, the combination of black and brown stripes symbolizes marginalized individuals within the LGBTIQ+ community who identify as people of color. Meanwhile, the grouping of blue, pink, and white represents the triad of colors from the transgender flag.

The incident marked the climax of a prolonged conflict that originated with Louise’s departure from the band in 1995, along with her reputation as the UK’s top sex symbol and regular feature in lads’ magazines. This status reportedly caused some disapproval among the Bennett sisters.

During magazine interviews, Vernie and Easther subtly expressed their discomfort with maintaining a sexual image, given their commitment as devout Christians.

Louise shared a significant remark on Loose Women regarding the dispute concerning the reunion tour, hinting at the current status of her bond with her sisters.

As a cherished companion, I’ve often found myself reminiscing about the possibility of reuniting with my dear friends, especially the ones we shared so many memories with.
