ESL Unveils IEM Rio 2024 Invites
As a long-time CS:GO fan and follower of the esports scene in South America, I’m thrilled to see ESL unveil the list of teams for IEM Rio 2024. The energy and passion that these teams bring to the game is truly inspiring.
The South American closed qualifier takes place this weekend.
As an excited fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve just learned about the eleven teams who have been extended invitations to participate in IEM Rio 2024, ESports Liga’s (ESL) premier event in South America! I can hardly wait for October when these top-tier teams will grace the tournament with their presence.
IEM Rio 2024 Direct Invites
At the IEM Rio 2024, which accommodates sixteen elite squads from various regions, eleven teams will receive direct invitations to participate. The remaining five spots will be filled by teams that successfully qualify for the tournament.
Here are the eleven teams that have received a direct invite to the event:
- Natus Vincere
- Vitality
- FaZe Clan
- Astralis
- 9Z
- MOUZ
- Virtus.Pro
- G2 esports
- Complexity
- The MongolZ
- FURIA
There will be five more teams at the event who will join from the following regional qualifiers
- EU Qualifier
- EU Qualifier
- NA Qualifier
- SA Qualifier
- Asia Qualifier
At IEM Rio in 2024, which is scheduled from October 7-13, there will be sixteen teams participating. These teams will be split into two groups of eight teams each. The initial encounters between the teams will consist of single-match series, while the subsequent elimination and final matches will involve best-of-three series.
In the group stage, those who finish first advance straight to the semifinals. The second and third place teams from each group must continue to the quarterfinals by competing in an additional match to secure their spot in the semifinals. The playoffs follow a knockout format, meaning only one team from each matchup will progress, with the triumphant team claiming the significant portion of the reward money.
As a seasoned esports analyst and avid follower of the competitive scene, I can confidently say that the current list of team invites for the upcoming tournament is nothing short of impressive. Having closely monitored the ESL World Ranking over the past few months, I have come to appreciate the caliber of teams it represents. The top-tier squads on this list are truly the crème de la crème of the esports world, and their inclusion is a testament to their skill, dedication, and hard work.
