Jesy Nelson recently shared some touching insights into the emotional period she spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), while also posting an adorable picture of her newly born twins.
Following a challenging pregnancy with increased risks, Jesy and her partner Zion Foster happily announced the premature births of their twin daughters, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe, around the 31st week, as they posted an Instagram tribute earlier this month.
Previously a member of Little Mix, now 33 years old, expressed feelings of fear and being overpowered while discussing her prolonged stay at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
She penned: ‘Nothing or no one will ever be able to prepare you as a parent for NICU.
As a fervent admirer, I can’t find words enough to express the intense, terrifying sensation that overpowers me when I feel helpless in shielding my beloved ones. It’s an emotion-churning whirlpool where I seem to lack the strength to safeguard those dear to me.
As a mother, the instinctive desire to embrace and console your child when they cry is strong, but due to a multitude of wires, tubes, and medical equipment obstructing their tiny bodies, along with numerous medical professionals constantly checking on them, it’s an emotionally overwhelming experience that shatters your heart into countless fragments.

As time passes and they become more robust, these instances seem almost surreal, as if they were part of a distant dream.
Experiencing their reunion for the very first time today brought about an indescribable, enchanting sensation. These resilient young ladies possess a truly remarkable tale that serves as inspiration.
Many enthusiastic supporters promptly expressed their goodwill and praised Jesy for being ‘remarkably courageous and powerful’ through their comments.
You three are incredibly strong girls ❤️, sending my love and strength to all four of you. I am always so proud of each one of you and consider you the strongest and most precious little angels.
You’re truly courageous and powerful. Wishing you an abundance of love from the depths of my heart. I’m incredibly joyful for you; each day that passes, you grow stronger and stronger. The entire community is extremely proud of you and your little ones.
It seems that Jesy paid a touching tribute to her ex-bandmate from Little Mix by revealing the special names she chose for her newly born twin girls.
Three days post her premature birth, the singer shared on social media platforms the names of her newborn daughters: Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.
Contrary to popular belief, it seems that the name ‘Jade’ wasn’t given as a tribute to Jade Thirlwall from Little Mix.

In reality, the origin of her daughter’s name holds a special connection. It turns out that she named her little one after her beloved older sister Jade, with whom she shares a very strong bond.
According to a source, the pair selected their baby names during their prolonged hospital stay over the past two months, while they patiently awaited the twins’ growth before delivery.
Jade’s middle name has always been planned, since Jesy shares a strong bond with her sister. This choice serves as a tribute to her sister, rather than any other significance.
Currently, it’s been verified that Jesy, along with her partner Zion Foster and their newborn daughters, are still residing at the hospital after the delivery. They might need to stay there for a while longer.
I’m delighted to share that they’re taking a bit more time at the hospital, but it’s all worth it as they’re cherishing moments with their newborns. The joy on Jesy and Zion’s faces is indescribable, knowing that the twins have safely arrived and are now part of their family.
TopMob have contacted representatives of Jesy for comment.
Since the end of March, Jesy has been in the hospital due to a diagnosis of twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) – a relatively uncommon condition that potentially poses a threat to either or both of the fetuses.
She assured everyone that both girls were healthy and thriving following her recent early delivery, as she posted an update on Instagram a few days later.
Jesy unveiled the charming names of her newborn babies to her 9.7 million followers, also posting two heartwarming images of the couple holding the infants.

Our precious little girls made an early appearance at 31 weeks and 5 days. The whole event unfolded rather swiftly, but we’re incredibly grateful they are with us now, thriving and full of strength! We’ve never felt more deeply in love.
‘Everybody meet Ocean Jade Nelson-Foster and Story Monroe Nelson-Foster.’
The name “Ocean” – originating from the Greek term “keanós” – is frequently linked to notions of strength and enigma, yet it can equally represent fresh starts and optimism.
The pair named their child Ocean, with a middle name of Jade, a name shared with one of her old bandmates; this move was perceived as a possible gesture aimed at reconciling with her former friend.
Jesy Nelson, a former member of Little Mix, stepped away and separated herself from bandmates Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock following her departure from the group in 2020.
The name “Story” that she chose for her second child suggests links with expansiveness, inventiveness, and exploration. This name originates from the Old Norse word “storr,” which translates to ‘large’ or ‘great.’
Her middle name, Monroe, has Scottish and Irish Gaelic roots and is used for both males and females. It signifies the mouth of the River Roe, a particular river in Northern Ireland. Additionally, there’s a touch of Hollywood elegance associated with it due to Marilyn Monroe sharing the same moniker.
In March, due to some complications, Jesy required an urgent medical procedure and was recommended to stay in the hospital until she reached at least the 32nd week of her pregnancy.
During this challenging experience, Zion acknowledged that he and Jesy, who was in her seventh month of pregnancy during the operation, had come to comprehend one another on a more profound level.
He shared with them: “It’s during moments like these that the true depth of your affection and the significance of your bond become crystal clear.
For me and Jess, it feels like our relationship has reached an extraordinary depth where we’re certain that we were meant to be together.
He said the couple had also tried to make the hospital as much of a home as possible.
We placed a convertible couch beside the hospital bed, creating an improvised double bed for ourselves.
Not only have they commented on the improvement, but their reaction was, “Oh, my goodness! This place feels so cozy and inviting now.
The couple revealed Nelson’s TTTS diagnosis in March.
Later on, Nelson wept as she disclosed that she required an operation due to the escalation of her symptoms.
She clarified: Regrettably, the symptoms have worsened, leading us to a point where the procedure must be done. Although this isn’t the desired outcome, it’s essential as it significantly increases the chances of our babies surviving.
‘So we’re just waiting to go in and we’re just hoping and praying for the best really.
‘I feel absolutely gutted because I was really hoping we wouldn’t be in this position.
‘It’s obviously really scary because there’s so many things that can happen. Pray for us, please.’
According to Professor Asma Khalil, who specializes in Obstetrics and Maternal-Fetal Medicine at St George’s Hospital, University of London, it would be beneficial for families dealing with a similar situation as Nelson and his partner to reach out to the charity, Twins Trust, for helpful resources and assistance.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to bring your attention to a relatively uncommon yet potentially critical situation that impacts approximately 10 to 15 percent of identical twins who share a placenta, a group known as monochorionic twins. This condition is called TTTS, or Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. It’s crucial to be aware of this condition, especially if you or someone you know falls into this category.
