This is The End – of a 37-year search.
On Monday, I learned that Parisian authorities were sharing the news about the recovery of a sculpture depicting the late rock legend Jim Morrison, who’s statue had gone missing back in 1988.
On Monday, the statue of Jim Morrison, the lead singer of The Doors, who had previously gone missing from a cemetery in Paris, was found by detectives working on a fraud case, according to a source.
In 1981, the statue was first created by Croatian artist Mladen Mikulin to honor Jim Morrison, the lead singer of Light My Fire, who died mysteriously in 1971 at the young age of 27. This statue was a tribute marking the 10th anniversary of his passing.
Officers involved in financial investigations and combating corruption were the ones who recently found a long-lost statue (that had been missing for 37 years), according to official reports.
The final resting place of the legendary rock musician, renowned for hits like “Light My Fire,” “Touch Me,” “Roadhouse Blues,” and “Riders on the Storm,” continues to draw rock enthusiasts since his death in 1971.

The circumstances surrounding Morrison’s death have always been somewhat vague, with initial accounts suggesting that he was found in a bathtub following a heart attack.
2007 book by French journalist Sam Bernett, titled “The End: Jim Morrison,” suggests that the account provided is toned down as a means to safeguard the musical icon’s reputation, according to reports from AFP.
According to Bernett, Morrison tragically died due to a heroin overdose at his old Paris club called Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus.
Morrison was in the bathroom of the venue, which was on the Left Bank in Paris.
In the book, it was stated that the charismatic lead vocalist of The Doors, the handsome Californian, ended up as an unmoving heap, resembling a balled-up piece of paper, in the restroom of a nightclub.
In 2021, Bernett told People that Morrison appeared to be in a distressed state. There was white fluid around his mouth and nose, and his eyes were shut, which indicated to Bernett that something serious was happening.
Users in The Doors subreddit expressed diverse views concerning the graffitied artifact’s future, as some found its unique character appealing while others debated its appropriate handling.
Seems quite dirty. I’m curious about the possibility of making it clean again, or maybe even restoring it in some way,” one user commented.

One individual commented that the statue continues to be ‘as iconic as ever,’ prompting another to quip, ‘Might as well grab a marker instead!’
One user pointed out that ‘this year has been exceptionally significant for Doors history,’ expressing relief at receiving ‘some positive updates instead of the usual sad news.’
In their list, they pointed out two key elements: the restoration of the building (referred to as The Morrison Hotel), which experienced a significant fire in December, and its subsequent revival.
Additionally, it was noted that actor Val Kilmer passed away on April 1. He portrayed Jim Morrison in the 1991 film by Oliver Stone titled The Doors.
