Erin Doherty, known for her role in the series Adolescence, is joining the cast of an upcoming comedy directed by Nancy Meyers. Emma Mackey, who starred in Sex Education, was originally set to appear in the film, but had to withdraw in February because of scheduling issues.
The movie, set to come out on December 25, 2027, boasts an impressive cast featuring Penélope Cruz, Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, and Owen Wilson.
Meyers shared their excitement about Erin Doherty joining the project on Instagram, calling her a brilliant addition to the cast.

According to Deadline, the upcoming film will follow a filmmaker and producer who used to be a couple and creative collaborators. They reconnect years after splitting up to work on a new movie, forcing them to confront their past relationship while managing demanding actors and the pressures of a major production.
Meyers shared on Instagram that the movie centers around a filmmaking crew and the captivating, enigmatic process of creating movies.

Recently, Doherty landed a role in Faith, a new and reportedly captivating British drama alongside James McAvoy.
The film Faith, directed by Paul Andrew Williams, tells the story of Gina, a dedicated single mother, and her encounter with a mysterious man named Michael.
Even though she doesn’t know anything about him or what he wants, his apparent kindness adds a fresh and intriguing element to her life.
My life felt totally flipped on its head when I found out who Michael really was. It was a huge shock, but it also made me realize I could actually start enjoying life again, like really living it, you know?
Dominic Tighe and Danny Page are producing the new film, Faith, which will feature Liv Hill and Smylie Bradwell.

After gaining recognition for her part in Adolescence and portraying Princess Anne in seasons three and four of The Crown, Doherty’s popularity has grown considerably in recent years.
Her growing popularity has sparked rumors she might be the next Doctor, taking over from Ncuti Gatwa who finished his run last year.
Responding to speculation, Peter Doherty told Radio Times in December that while he enjoys science fiction and fantasy, he hasn’t had any conversations about appearing on Doctor Who.
