As a lifestyle authority, I’m sharing some personal news that recently happened to a reality star named Erin Bates. After welcoming her seventh baby into the world, she faced an alarming health issue and was urgently admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). This serves as a stark reminder of the importance of prioritizing health during pregnancy and postpartum periods.
34-year-old ex-star of Bringing Up Bates, gave birth to her son Henry Blythe on August 25th, however, she developed septic shock afterward.
Following her arduous, emotionally charged childbirth process, her husband, Chad Paine (aged 38), updated his social media platforms to inform everyone about Bates’ critical health condition.
We can’t express enough gratitude for the prayers and support you’ve shown us during this time. A week ago, we experienced a miracle when Henry was born. He’s currently in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), but he brings us immense joy and happiness.
We requested prayers for a swift and smooth recovery for Erin, as she faced difficulties during childbirth due to complications. This labor lasted significantly longer and was more challenging than her past deliveries.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but express my awe for this remarkable woman who has been bravely battling through her struggles. Her radiant spirit, infused with grace, has left an indelible impression on every nurse, staff member, and doctor she’s encountered. Her kindness and gratitude in the face of pain are truly inspiring and have touched us all deeply.
As a dedicated follower, I’d like to share that Erin encountered some significant health challenges. Specifically, she was diagnosed with a severe urinary tract infection (UTI) that progressed to a kidney infection. This aggressive combination led her into a critical condition known as septic shock.

At present, she remains in the Intensive Care Unit while medical professionals work diligently to provide treatment, diagnosis, and seek answers. We deeply appreciate your heartfelt prayers for this radiant young lady, who brings such warmth and positivity amidst challenging times. We cling steadfastly to divine promises during this time. Sincerely, Chad.
Septic shock is an uncommon yet severe complication that can arise following approximately 0.3% to 0.4% of all childbirths.
Despite a report from the CDC in 2024 suggesting an increase in such complications, urinary tract infections (UTIs) emerged as one of the most prevalent culprits. Infections and sepsis, on the other hand, have become the second most frequent reason for maternal fatalities in the United States.
Apart from Charles Steven IV (aged 10), Brooklyn Elise (8 years old), Everly Hope (7), Holland Grace (5), Finley Marie (3), and little William Gage (who is just 20 months old), Bates and Paine are also proud parents to these children.
In 2015, shortly before welcoming their firstborn, the pair disclosed to People that Bates had experienced multiple miscarriages as a result of a blood-clotting disorder.
Enthusiasts promptly responded to Paine’s plea for a prayer. One fervently expressed, ‘I wish for her body to be freed from infection in the name of Jesus. May she find full recovery, as well as sweet baby Henry in the NICU.’
Every member of the Roman household humbly prays for your family, asking the Lord to shower them with His grace, kindness, and benevolence. Amen.
Instead of suggesting the couple to think about whether adding more children might be a good idea, another person put it this way: “With kindness, I’m encouraging you to reflect on the possibility of not having any more babies for your own well-being. Your body seems to be signaling that it needs rest now.

Perhaps, this could be an indication that she’s reached her physical limit for pregnancies. It’s quite unsettling. I hope God provides her with the necessary strength.
Bates is primarily recognized for being one of the 19 children who appeared on the reality series Bringing Up Bates and its earlier version, United Bates of America.
She and Paine married in November 2013.
This group independently runs a business that produces scripture cards, stationery, and stickers, in addition to skincare products infused with beef tallow, and CDs showcasing Bates’ performances of hymns and other spiritual music.
