Eric Dane, the actor best known for his role in Grey’s Anatomy, will appear in a new BBC war thriller about the chaotic evacuation of Kabul, Afghanistan in August 2021. The six-episode series, titled Kabul, tells the story of ordinary people caught in the crisis as the Taliban took control of the city.
This English-language series is a collaboration between France, Germany, and Italy. It features Dane, along with Shervin Alenabi, Jonathan Zaccaï, Thibault Evrard, Vassilis Kukalawi, Jeanne Goursaud, Gianmarco Saurino, and Valentina Cervi, who previously appeared in Medici: Masters of Florence.
The story hints at widespread disruption as American soldiers leave the capital city, with European and US officials focused on protecting civilians.
On August 15, 2021, as U.S. forces left Kabul, the Taliban moved into the city. The Nazany family, along with countless other civilians, had to escape, worried about what the Taliban might do.
With the serious and confusing situation unfolding under the threat of a potential ISIS attack, law enforcement from France, diplomats from Italy, soldiers from Germany, and U.S. intelligence agencies are all working together to help the increasing number of civilians.
