Eric Dane sparks concern as he’s absent from Emmys 2025 despite planned Grey’s Anatomy reunion amid ALS battle

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the news about Eric Dane, and it was definitely concerning to see him miss the 2025 Emmys. He was actually scheduled to be there, and it comes just five months after he bravely shared his diagnosis of ALS. It’s a reminder of the challenges he’s facing, and naturally, people were worried when he didn’t appear.

The 52-year-old actor was supposed to reunite with his former ‘Grey’s Anatomy‘ co-star Jesse Williams at the event. But Williams had to perform alone when Dane didn’t attend.

The event was meant to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary, but when Williams presented the award for Best Drama Series Directing, he did so alone and didn’t acknowledge Dane at all.

Fans were concerned by the actor’s absence, as this would have been his first major awards show appearance since revealing his ALS diagnosis.

According to a Deadline source, Dane unexpectedly withdrew from hosting the awards show, probably on the day it took place.

I’ve been following Dane for a while now, and I noticed he’s been quiet lately. I saw the Daily Mail reported they’ve tried to get a statement from his team about where he is, but haven’t received any response yet. It’s a little concerning, and I’m hoping everything’s alright!

One Twitter user posted that Eric Dane was originally scheduled to appear with Jesse Williams, expressing their disappointment with a series of crying emojis.

‘The fact that Eric Dane didn’t show up makes me sad and worried for him tbh,’ another said. 

‘I hope Eric is well. He was scheduled to present with Jesse Williams,’ another posted.

‘I thought eric dane was presenting with jesse? hope he’s okay,’ one said.

In April, Dane shared that he’s living with ALS, a rare and currently incurable disease that gradually weakens muscles and makes it harder to move.

Around half of people with ALS live for about three years after first experiencing symptoms, but some individuals can live much longer, even for many years.

Dane shared that he has been diagnosed with ALS. He expressed gratitude for the support of his family as they face this new challenge together.

Just a month after deciding to end their divorce, Dane and his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, who are parents to Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13, shared this news.

Dane, a longtime cast member of the HBO show *Euphoria*, shared that he’s grateful to be continuing work and excited to return to filming next week. He asked for privacy for himself and his family during this time.

During a subsequent interview with Diane Sawyer, Dane revealed he had been struck with paralysis.

In a broadcast last June, he explained that his left side was working normally, but his right arm – his dominant arm – had become completely paralyzed. He only had use of one arm.

I’m losing function in my left arm, and I’m afraid I’ll lose my left hand within a few months. It’s a scary thought, and I’m also starting to worry about my legs.

Just a few days after his interview became public, Dane stepped onto the red carpet for the first time since sharing his diagnosis, attending the premiere of his show, Countdown.

‘I feel good,’ he told Variety at the event. 

He said it was wonderful to see all their hard work finally come to fruition on screen.

Dane was bent on continuing to act despite his health battle.  

I really enjoy working on film sets. It’s fulfilling to have a job and to be able to contribute my talents, and I plan to continue doing so.
