It appears that there is no love lost between Richard Reid and Today host Karl Stefanovic.
Richard, age 54, worked as the Hollywood reporter for the Nine network’s breakfast show from 2006 to 2015. He recently shared his negative feelings about a certain TV host on the A Bit Rogue podcast.
The celebrity gossip expert shared with host Skye Sydenham that he didn’t have a great working relationship with Karl, especially during Karl’s last year.
Richard admitted he didn’t have good memories of Today, saying, ‘I was just about to pretend I did.’
Richard acknowledged enjoying his time at Channel Nine, but he was upset when his contract wasn’t renewed in 2015.
‘It was up and down,’ he said.
I have a lot of fond memories and I’m really thankful for the opportunities Nine gave me. They featured me on several programs, but it’s never easy when you’re let go.
Richard said his final year at the network was very unpleasant, and he felt Karl was partially responsible.
He admitted he really disliked the final season of the show, specifically working with Karl, but clarified it wasn’t a problem with Richard Wilkins.
‘Everyone was unhappy, everyone was miserable, everyone hated each other.’
Richard explained that while someone might not like Karl, Karl likely didn’t feel the same way. However, Richard also said Karl didn’t realize how his actions impacted people around him.
He believes everything was okay on his end, explaining, ‘He had all the control, and I didn’t.’
Although Richard claimed he wasn’t holding a grudge against the Nine star, he couldn’t resist making a pointed remark about his old coworker.
When Skye asked Richard what he thought of Karl’s new podcast, Richard said he wouldn’t listen to it, explaining he simply dislikes Karl’s voice.
After leaving Nine, Richard moved to Channel Ten and won the reality show I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2019.
He’s also been on Studio 10 and has become a popular figure in media, frequently hosting events.
Richard recently gained attention after sharing that his worst experience meeting a celebrity was with talk show host Ellen DeGeneres, who has faced recent controversy.
‘Everyone knows that I found Ellen was no picnic,’ Richard told the Daily Telegraph in 2021.
He admitted that when the reports about her alleged bullying surfaced this year, he briefly thought, ‘I was right about this.’
In a 2021 News Corp column discussing his experiences with Ellen, he called the former talk show host ‘fake’.
He said that despite only speaking with Ellen for five or six minutes, he quickly realized her nice public image was a facade, and even after twenty years, thinking about it still disturbs him.
