Entering the death zone: Clash will now happen every 2 months

Clash tournaments aim to replicate the thrill of participating in the League of Legends World Championships. However, a shift is on the horizon.

Fans have been enraged by Riot Games following their recent statements about the Hextech Chests, and now they have yet another cause for frustration. The game developers have revealed that Clash, a feature within League of Legends, is undergoing modifications in this upcoming season, but these alterations aren’t particularly well-received.

Fewer Clash tournaments

If you’re not familiar with Clash, it’s a team-based competition where you join forces with four friends to take on other players’ teams. You can gather intel on them, make strategic picks and bans, and strive for the winning position. Throughout the tournament, your team stands a chance to win various rewards such as unique skins.

At first, the Clash events took place every two weeks, but this changed in 2023. Later on, they switched to monthly occurrences. Now, they will take place every other month. This means that since 2023, you have had the opportunity to participate in about 12 Clash events annually. However, moving forward, there will be only six events per year.

Is Riot against players?

Some enthusiasts believe that Riot Games has been making questionable decisions with their game recently. Beyond the recent uproar over the Hextech Chests issue and accusations towards the company for ignoring the community’s feedback, these problems have been brewing long before the latest developer’s update.

Ever since the two rounds of layoffs last year, fans have criticized Riot Games for a perceived decline in game and skin line quality. Currently, with these recent modifications, fans are alleging that the company is exploiting every chance players have to acquire free skins, implying they’re taking advantage of such opportunities.

2021 has brought some uncertainty about Clash’s sustainability due to fewer staff members available. Riot Games explains these alterations are necessary because the usual team is now dedicated to different projects. Some players in the community are urging for an update on the game mode, aiming to make it more akin to Premier from VALORANT, another Riot production.

Next Clash tournament

2025’s initial tournament kicks off on March 1st and continues through the 2nd. Unfortunately, we don’t have any updates yet regarding the comeback of the ARAM Clash event.
