As a child who grew up devouring Enid Blyton’s books, I am nothing short of ecstatic about this upcoming live-action adaptation of The Magic Faraway Tree! With such an illustrious cast led by the talented Nonso Anozie as Moonface and the delightful Nicole Kidman as Dame Washalot, it feels like a dream come true for every fan who yearned to visit the enchanting world Blyton created.


The first sneak peek of Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan in her latest project has been revealed. 

The 37-year-old actress is set to take on leading roles in the live-action rendition of Enid Blyton’s cherished series, “The Faraway Tree.

In the tradition of The Faraway Tree novel collection, the story titled “The Magic Faraway Tree” centers around siblings Polly and Tim Thompson, along with their offspring – Beth, Joe, and Fran. This family finds themselves compelled to move to a secluded region in the heart of England.

There, the children discover a magical tree and its extraordinary and eccentric occupants.

As a devoted admirer, I can hardly contain my excitement! The enchanting star of Derry Girls has been given the magical role of Silky, the ethereal woodland fairy, and it seems that she’s already stepped into her new character with grace and charm. In an exclusive sneak peek, she’s captured gazing curiously from the dappled shade of trees towards the radiant sunlight – a tantalizing glimpse into the whimsical world that awaits us!

The star is dressed in a long blonde wig and glances out nervously from behind branches.  

Additionally, starring in the highly awaited movie is Nonso Anozie from Ted Lasso, playing the role of Moonface.

In a recent announcement, actress Jessica Gunning, who played the role of Baby Reindeer, has been titled Dame Washalot, while Dustin Demri-Burns will be known as Saucepan Man in the future.

Completing our ensemble of mystical forest inhabitants, we have Mark Heap portraying Mr. Oom Boom Boom and Oliver Chris taking on the role of Mr. Watzisname.

Hollywood stars Claire Foy and Andrew Garfield will play the children’s parents Polly and Tim. 

The distinguished gentlemen Sirs Lenny Henry, Michael Palin, and Simon Russell Beale are among those confirmed for roles. They will portray a group of enigmatic sages hailing from the Land of All Wisdom.

The upcoming film, which has been crafted by BAFTA Award-winning screenwriter Simon Farnaby (known for Wonka and Paddington 2), is set to be helmed by director Ben Gregor. Production on this project will begin towards the end of this month, spanning various locations across the United Kingdom.

Sam Mendes’ award-winning production house, Neal Street Productions, is spearheading this project. They have a solid track record, having produced hits like the popular TV series “Call The Midwife” and critically acclaimed films such as “1917” and “Revolutionary Road”.

At the summit of the tree, the family finds themselves whisked away to awe-inspiring and imaginative realms. As they navigate the thrills and hurdles of their journey, they finally discover how to rebuild their bonds and appreciate one another, something they hadn’t done in years.

Today, Enid Blyton’s beloved books continue to be published, reaching readers across the globe. These stories have been translated into more than 35 different languages and have sold an astounding half a billion copies worldwide, earning her the title of the most widely translated children’s author on the planet.

In the UK alone, over 3.5 million copies of her books are sold annually.

The Faraway Tree series remains one of her most popular, having sold over 30 million copies to date and continuing to sell over half a million copies each year to new readers.

The story “The Magic Faraway Tree” is derived from a series of children’s novels known as “The Faraway Tree Series.” This collection includes four books: “The Enchanted Wood” published in 1939, “The Magic Faraway Tree” from 1943, “The Folk of the Faraway Tree” from 1946, and “Up the Faraway Tree,” which was published in 1951.

In 2022, beloved children’s writer Jacqueline Wilson published additional parts of her books, which received widespread praise.
