Emmerdale's Lisa Riley admits to 'self-medicating with alcohol' and 'drinking two bottles of wine a night' after the death of her mum - as she celebrates nine years of sobriety on Lorraine

As someone who’s been through the emotional rollercoaster of wedding planning myself, I can empathize with Mandy and Paddy’s predicament. The tension between them is palpable, and it seems like their big day might be heading for a catastrophic crash.

As a passionate devotee, I can’t help but share that Lisa Riley, from my beloved Emmerdale, has confided in us about turning to alcohol as a means of coping following the tragic loss of her dear mother.

The 48-year-old actress admitted that she used to drink two bottles of wine every night prior to quitting alcohol, which she did nine years ago.

In an appearance on Thursday’s Lorraine show, Lisa, the actress portraying Mandy Dingle, shared with host Ranvir Singh her preference: “I like myself better since I’ve stayed sober.”

In an attempt to cope with the loss of my mother, I would resort to drinking wine, specifically about a bottle and a half to two full bottles of Malbec, during those challenging periods. It became something of a routine or strategy I adopted.

Earlier, she mentioned that she felt it was the parties that kept her from having quality time with her mother who passed away due to cancer in 2012. Instead of “blamed,” we can use “felt responsible” or “believed it was the cause.”

It comes after it was revealed Lisa has signed a ‘long-term’ contract to keep her on the ITV soap.

In a recent interview with Woman’s Weekly, the actress expressed her enthusiasm about her upcoming role on the show, which she confirmed.

She said: ‘I’ve just signed a new long contract and I’m very happy.

Paddy and Mandy always add a delightful touch to the performance, ensuring an enjoyable dose of amusement for the audience, which I truly appreciate.

25 years have passed since their initial wedding, and I hope to continue performing for another 25 years – I truly cherish being a part of this.

It’s a big wedding week for Mandy this week as Paddy might find out about her secret life.

Tracy unexpectedly finds Mandy engaged in one of her ‘Madame Diamante Dale’ consultations with a client, and sternly advises her to cease the activity.

In my fervor, I found myself strapped for cash and devising ways to assuage the concerns of dear Tracy, all while detailing the precautions I was implementing for my new venture. Yet, her apprehension lingered, as she couldn’t help but muse over the potential repercussions my latest endeavor might bring.

Mandy’s excited when Amelia gifts her a karaoke headset and organises her a surprise hen do.

As an eager participant, I’m thrilled about the upcoming party, but I find myself caught between scheduling Bear’s beard trim at the salon and fitting in a Madame Diamante session – quite the balancing act!

Instead of giving Bear to Amelia so she could attend her client’s call, a turn of events occurred: The conversation with the client accidentally broadcasted over the karaoke system while Bear was in the salon by themselves.

1. The bear is quite upset by the news he received at the salon, and Mandy becomes uncomfortable when he makes some sharp remarks about her. (In this version, I tried to keep the original meaning while making it more conversational and easier to read.)

Following my investigation into Mandy’s activities, I find myself feeling uneasy upon the arrival of Marlon and Paddy to kick off our bachelor party.

When Bear questions Mandy regarding her secondary job, she attempts to clarify her actions, yet chooses not to involve Paddy in the discussion.

In my role as a lifestyle advisor, let me rephrase that scenario for you. Here I am, standing in Mandy’s shoes, and a certain someone is threatening to make a fuss about something. But fear not, dear reader, for I manage to talk him out of it by promising him that I will indeed walk away from my fresh new job.

Later on, when Paddy extols Mandy’s virtues at the local tavern, Bear leads Paddy and his friends into a private room and discloses Mandy’s secret activities. This revelation leaves Paddy in shock as he grapples with whether to proceed with their upcoming wedding.

On my special day, I found myself adorned in my bridal attire, sharing an emotionally charged moment with my partner Vinny.

At the groom’s place, there’s a disagreement between Bear and Marlon about the Mandy issue. Later on, Paddy makes up his mind and announces that he won’t be going through with the wedding.

Bear arrives at the salon and shatters Mandy’s good mood as he reveals that Paddy knows all about Madame Diamante.

Following Bear’s shocking revelation, a dismayed Mandy is left reeling in shock over the predicament she finds herself in.

Could it be possible for Mandy’s apology and Marlon’s efforts to alter Paddy’s thoughts about the wedding to prevent any disruptions on their supposed grand day?
