As a devoted fan of Emmerdale and an avid follower of the latest soap news, I am absolutely thrilled to pieces about James Chase’s revelation of his parents’ pride in his acting career and his terrifying portrayal of Tom King. His parents, just like me, find Tom to be a complete monster for the way he treats Belle Dingle, yet they are immensely proud of their son for landing such an impactful role.

James Chase, an actor from Emmerdale, shared that his parents are thrilled with his achievements as they watch him play the menacing role of Tom King in the Dales.

In 2023, a 28-year-old newcomer joined the show, and since then, his on-screen persona has been entangled in a sorrowful domestic abuse plot. He mercilessly harms both physically and mentally his wife, Belle Dingle, portrayed by Eden Taylor-Draper.

In an interview with The Mirror, James shared that his parents are thrilled about him getting the part, yet they, along with him, hold the same opinion that the character is a real jerk.

When people observe our conversation, they’re taken aback by the hurtful things Tom says to Belle. No one in their senses would utter such words, and I was taken aback by Tom’s actions, despite anticipating a domestic violence plotline.

James continued by sharing their feelings of honor and pride for being involved in such a significant storyline alongside Eden.

If this story manages to inspire just one person to overcome something awful and find the courage to break free, that would be an amazing outcome for us both.

Last week, Soap Land’s EastEnders stood out among its competitors by winning a remarkable seven awards at the inaugural RadioTimes.com Soap Awards.

At The Midland Hotel in London, Jennifer Metcalfe, Jorgie Porter, and Kirsty-Leigh Porter were among the first to arrive, representing the star-studded cast of soap operas at the ceremony.

The eagerly-awaited EastEnders Christmas episode of 2023, nicknamed “Sixmas,” received the title of Best Moment of the Year. Fans had been anxiously biting their nails for months, eager to discover which character would meet a tragic end in the festive spectacle.

Keanu Taylor, portrayed by Danny Walters, met his end at the hands of Linda Carter, played by Kellie Bright. Six other characters were present when his body was discovered: Denise Fox (Diane Parish), Kathy Cotton (Gillian Taylforth), Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean), Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner), and Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal).

As an obsessed fan, I can’t contain my excitement as I witness yet another triumph for my beloved soap opera on BBC. It not only held its ground against formidable competitors like Coronation Street, Emmerdale, and Hollyoaks but also claimed the prestigious title of Best Soap at the awards ceremony.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that sentence like this: When it comes to accolades, the soap opera truly shone, claiming top honors in several categories. I had the pleasure of witnessing Navin Chowdhry take home the Best Villain award. Additionally, Danny’s captivating performance in a particularly inspiring episode earned him recognition as the Best Actor. The Most Inspiring Storyline also received due praise, and when it was time to bid farewell to a beloved character, their Best Exit was celebrated.

Helen Daly, Radio Times’ Associate Editor, commented: “The soaps have all shone brilliantly in the last year, making it a privilege to recognize their accomplishments.”

Morgan Jeffery, Digital Editor at Radio Times, expressed her congratulations: “Bravo to all the soap operas for their awards! A special round of applause goes out to EastEnders for an exceptional evening.”

As an obsessed fan, I’m absolutely ecstatic about each and every one of our nominees. And let me tell you, nothing gives me greater joy than celebrating our worthy winners as well! These prestigious awards are a testament to the exceptional year British soap has had, filled with unexpected plot twists, heart-pounding turns, and unparalleled drama that has kept us hooked for over six decades. I can’t help but feel proud and exhilarated to be part of this incredible community!

Brian Conley oversaw the hosting of the event, which concluded with EastEnders being named the victor in the category for Best Soap among fan votes.

In the fan-voted categories, EastEnders lost out on the award for Best Comedy Performance, which instead went to Lisa Riley.

At the awards ceremony, the esteemed judging panel chose Charlie Wrenshall from Coronation Street as the top young performer, Iz Hesketh of Hollyoaks as the most promising newcomer, and Angela Wynter from EastEnders as the best actor in their respective categories.

In an unexpected turn of events, it was Mercedes’ (Jennifer Metcalfe) twins’ shocking discovery that they had different fathers that took home the honor for Best Twist. Meanwhile, the intense confrontation between George and Eddie in EastEnders was hailed as the standout Episode.

As a devoted Coronation Street fan, I couldn’t help but feel deeply moved when Paul’s heart-wrenching motor neurone disease storyline unfolded on screen. And to make things even more special, this powerful narrative was awarded the Best Storyline accolade! What an incredible testament to the show’s ability to tackle important and thought-provoking issues with sensitivity and depth.

Chris Chittell received a “Special Achievement Award” for his impressive 40-year portrayal of the character Eric Pollard on Emmerdale.
