As a dedicated fan who has followed Daisy Campbell’s journey since she was just eight years old, it is truly heart-wrenching to see her leave Emmerdale after 13 years. The actress has grown with us, and Amelia Spencer has been an integral part of our daily lives. It feels like bidding goodbye to a dear friend, someone we’ve shared laughter, tears, and everything in between.

As a loyal follower, I must share that after an incredible 13-year journey, I, Daisy Campbell, have learned that my time on Emmerdale is coming to an end. It’s been quite a ride!

The actress, who is now 21, started playing the character Amelia Spencer on the popular ITV soap when she was only eight years old and has been in that role ever since.

Daisy confessed that she was taken aback by the information and found it challenging during the shoot, as ITV executives shared the news with her in a private conversation.

The main character from the soap opera announced that she didn’t decide to leave and her last episodes will be broadcast around Christmas time.

Pondering over recent events, she shared with The Mirror: ‘Leaving Emmerdale wasn’t something I decided myself, and it took me by surprise initially. Spending my entire life on that set is all I’ve ever known. I grew up in the soap, and stepping away from it felt intimidating.’

In May, Daisy learned she would be departing from the soap opera, and now, since everyone from the Dingle family has moved on, she has accepted her leaving.

It’s been made clear that Amelia won’t meet her end through the series, although specifics about how she departs have yet to be disclosed.

The actress mentioned that she was happy with the open-ended nature of the situation, but she couldn’t reveal many details about her departure.

Despite the exit storyline being a secret, Daisy confirmed her character will start to see the hidden side of her romance interest Tom King (James Chase).

In recent weeks, viewers have seen her embark on a relationship with abuser Tom.

From my personal perspective as a woman who has faced similar situations, it was heart-wrenching to learn that she remained oblivious to her partner’s abuse of his estranged wife, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper). It’s all too familiar the emotional toll such ignorance can inflict on an individual. In my own life, I found myself caught in a similar predicament, where I was unaware of the harm being inflicted upon me by someone I trusted deeply. The realization of their transgressions only came after the damage had been done, leaving me to grapple with feelings of betrayal, sadness, and confusion. It’s crucial that we remain vigilant in recognizing signs of abuse and support those who may be experiencing it, so they can seek help before irreversible harm is inflicted.

2022 saw Amelia expanding her family as she welcomed two-year-old Esther. The unexpected pregnancy was with Samson Dingle, known by many as Sam Hall.

Previously, her parents moved away from the countryside, and she’s learned from her producers that there are no more plotlines being developed for her character.

Following her departure being made public, Daisy disclosed to the media that she had confided in just three of her dearest friends and fellow actors about her plans.

She clarified that Rosie Bentham, Katie Hill, and Jack Downham were deeply saddened by the news and have been offering their support from behind the curtains.

Daisy mentioned that everyone was both saddened and encouraging towards her. At first, she chose not to share her recent development with the rest of the cast, preferring some personal space to absorb and come to terms with it. What she was mourning, specifically, was the role of Amelia.
