Emmerdale braced for ‘heart-stopping’ new storyline that will leave THREE soap legends fighting for their lives

Emmerdale braced for 'heart-stopping' new storyline that will leave THREE soap legends fighting for their lives

As an ardent fan of Emmerdale for what feels like eons, I must say that I am positively thrilled about the upcoming dramatic turn of events! The suspense is killing me, and not just because three of my favorite characters are trapped in a car submerged in a frozen lake. The attention to detail in the filming – candle-waxing an entire field to replicate ice on a lake? Brilliant! I can hardly wait to see how it unfolds on screen next month.

Viewers of Emmerdale can expect a major surprise as three beloved characters find themselves stuck in a car that has fallen into a frozen lake in an exciting sequence of forthcoming episodes.

In chilling footage captured a week ago, Leyla Harding, playing the character Roxy Shahidi, can be seen among three characters struggling to survive as their vehicle goes underwater.

In order to create the most engaging viewing experience, the executives at ITV have gone above and beyond, even going so far as to spread a large field with copious amounts of wax that mimics the icy texture found on a lake’s surface.

The makers are anticipating that the ‘terrifying’ sequences will resonate strongly with viewers of soaps, as they are set to be broadcast next month.

According to a source familiar with the situation, the producers are aiming to create suspense among viewers as they watch the vehicle veer off the road and plunge into the water.

The situation was extremely challenging, and every effort was made to ensure it carried a powerful emotional resonance. Numerous hours were invested in crafting an icy surface, followed by the actors braving the cold darkness of a frozen landscape for hours on end, all to deliver the plot effectively.

‘It will be a real heartstopper moment when it airs in January.’

After Roxy, who is said to have left Emmerdale after 16 years, may see her character Leyla being written out of the show by the producers, according to recent reports from inside sources.

Until now, the explosive circumstances of her exit had been kept secret.

Last month, a source mentioned that Roxy has cherished her experience on the soap opera and has created numerous joyful memories since she started working there at age 17.

She’s found a deep bond with her co-stars, making them feel more like family, and her acting skills have flourished tremendously. However, she now senses it’s the right moment for her to venture out and explore fresh opportunities in her career.

She’s genuinely thrilled about the dramatic ending of her character Leyla’s arc, where she will sadly meet her demise on-screen. She prefers to make an impactful exit, ensuring her character is not forgotten.

For several years, Roxy’s alternate persona had occasional stints as a pole dancer. However, her current profession is as an event planner.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but delve into the gripping narrative arcs that have defined my beloved character. Among these memorable plot points are her heart-wrenching descent into drug addiction and the chilling moment when she was ruthlessly gunned down by the sinister Meena Jutla, portrayed with chilling precision by Paige Sandhu.

From 2021 to 2023, the character was in a marriage with Liam Cavanagh, portrayed by Jonny McPherson. However, their union came to an end when Liam was discovered to have been untrue to his vows.

In 2010, it was unveiled that Roxy serves as the biological parent of Jacob Gallagher, who is portrayed by Joe-Warren Plant; prior to this revelation, Jacob had been adopted.

In contrast, Roxy resides in Nottingham along with her spouse Arsher Ali (aged 40) and their six-year-old child, away from the Yorkshire soap setting.

As a lifestyle aficionado, I had the privilege of participating in Dancing on Ice earlier this year. I managed to make it through four weeks of the competition, but unfortunately, I sustained a severe shoulder injury just prior to my departure from the show.

Roxy was one also of a string of soaps actresses to appear on the reality series Drama Queens.

In her appearance, she shared the spotlight with notable figures such as Brooke Vincent from Coronation Street, Strictly Come Dancing champion Ellie Leach, and longtime EastEnders actress Rita Simons.

Before securing her role on Emmerdale, Roxy previously made an appearance in a single episode of the brief BBC comedy-drama titled Sinchronicity. Additionally, she has accumulated stage acting experience throughout the years.

However, she had mentioned that she particularly enjoyed working on a soap opera, as it allowed her to build a character over an extended period of time, which she found fulfilling.

She mentioned that she truly enjoys working on a soap opera, as it allows her character to develop and evolve throughout the years.

It’s a process you don’t really get on many other dramas.

‘And I’m so lucky to play Leyla, because she’s such a fun character.’
