Emmerdale and The Archers star Eric Allan has died at the age of 85.
The actor, known for his 48-year career in television and radio, has died. He was originally cast as Frank Blakey in 1972, during the early years of the soap opera, then known as Emmerdale Farm.
He became well-known for his storyline where he married Janie Harker, marking the first wedding ever featured on the show. Shortly after, in January 1974, he departed the series.
He also played farmer Bert Fry on BBCÂ Radio 4’s The Archers for 25 years.
Eric is survived by his wife Susan who he married in 1963 as well as their son and daughter.Â
