Emmerdale and Coronation Street are PULLED from one ITV Christmas schedule - leaving soap fans completely 'gutted'

Oh, my dear soap-loving friends, let me tell you, this Christmas season feels like a cruel jest! As a dedicated fan who has weathered the storms of Emmerdale and Coronation Street for what seems like an eternity, I am left feeling utterly gutted by ITV’s decision to axe classic episodes. It’s as if they’ve taken away my favorite comfort blanket during the coldest nights!

Fans of soap operas are feeling disappointed since ITV has taken off-air holiday airings of beloved episodes of Emmerdale and Coronation Street during the Christmas season.

During the week, fresh episodes are broadcasted on ITV. Meanwhile, enthusiasts have been turning to ITV3 for repeated showings of timeless soap operas.

This holiday season, as reported by Reddit users, the management at ITV has decided not to broadcast re-runs of classic episodes from Emmerdale and Coronation Street.

“It has been announced on Reddit that there won’t be any airing of ‘Classic Emmerdale’ on ITV 3 from December 23rd until January 2nd, because of the Christmas holidays. During this period, films will replace the regular programming. The same applies to ‘Classic Corrie’.

Many viewers express their dismay with the announcement, saying something like: “I’m really bummed that they won’t be airing old Coronation Street episodes during Christmas.

‘Think I would sooner watch classic Emmerdale than c****y Xmas movies!’

At Coronation Street, they unveiled a touching tribute video for the character Gail Platt, which was played during Helen Worth’s farewell gathering.

73-year-old actress Helen took a leave of absence from the Cobbles in June after spending an astonishing 50 years on the ITV soap.

Initially, Helen made her debut on Coronation Street back in 1974, assuming the part of the beloved character, Gail. However, the audience was heartbroken upon hearing that she decided to leave the show during the summer months.

The soap star is due to leave the show next week and the scenes will air on Christmas Day.

To mark Helen’s tenure on the program, Coronation Street put together a tribute video using various clips from throughout her years, acknowledging her tireless dedication.

At the soap star’s farewell gathering in November, they screened a heartfelt video that undeniably moved everyone who watched it.

In Weatherfield’s Bistro, the Coronation Street cast found it hard to hold back their emotions as the scene unfolded.

Now Corrie fans can enjoy all of Helen’s best bits for themselves.

I’ve just got my hands on a heartwarming, eight-minute video celebrating the fabulous Gail, posted on the official YouTube channel of everyone’s favorite ITV soap! It’s titled “Gail at 50: A Decade of Drama and Love” – a must-watch for any dedicated fan like myself!

Over the years, Helen’s alter-ego Gail has been involved in a number of gripping storylines.

She experienced a range of events such as multiple marriages, a near-fatal attempt on her life by her third spouse Richard Hillman, a humorous bond with Eileen Grimshaw, and an instance where her son David shoved her down the stairs.

In her announcement, Helen expressed that this year seemed ideal for bidding farewell to the show, having celebrated an extraordinary 50 years on what she considers the best job and the most remarkable street in the universe.

At the beginning of this year, I took the step of discussing my choice with the producers, who turned out to be quite considerate and accommodating.

I’ve felt incredibly fortunate each week to receive exceptional scripts, work alongside terrific actors, directors, and an outstanding team.

Over the last 50 years, time seems to have gone by incredibly quickly, and it still feels surreal to me that I’ll be departing soon.
