Emmerdale actress pregnant: Soapstar reveals she is expecting third child in heartwarming update

Emmerdale actress Paula Lane revealed she is expecting her third child in an update on Friday. 

The actress who portrayed the character Ella Forster on the ITV series took to social media to share some delightful news about her personal life.

Instead of placing the photo of her scan among other cards, she inserted it there to notify her son and daughter that they would soon have new roles as older siblings.

Paula wrote: ‘Some special news to share from us @sirtomshaw.

‘Christmas just got a bit more magical. Our baby boy due December 2025.’

Paula and her husband Tom Shaw, who married in 2014, already share two children, Arthur and Penny. 

2014 saw Arthur being warmly received at home on New Year’s Eve, while Penny joined the family in July of 2016, a couple of years after that.

Paula joined the Yorkshire-set in 2023 and made her fiery debut on-screen in January 2024. 

In simpler terms, she was initially known for her straightforward approach as a receptionist. Over time, she developed a close friendship with Mandy Dingle, played by Lisa Reilly, and also found herself romantically involved with the character Dr. Liam Cavanagh, portrayed by Jonny McPherson.

In December 2024, it came to light that she had stepped down from her role in the soap, pursuing fresh opportunities, according to The Sun.

At a previous point, news reports indicated that an update to her Spotlight profile suggested she would conclude filming by February 2025.

Not long after stepping into the soap opera’s plotline, it became clear that Ella had been haunted by the tragic act of killing a childhood friend. This burden weighed heavily on her as she navigated her way through adulthood.

It emerged later that she was carrying Liam’s baby, even though he had strong feelings for Chas Dingle (played by Lisa Pargeter).

She sadly lost the baby as Liam grows his future with Chas. 

Previously, Paula played the role of Kylie Platt on Coronation Street. She made a dramatic exit from the soap opera in 2016 following an intense scene where her character was tragically stabbed to death outside the kebab shop by Clayton Hibbs.

She died in the arms of her husband, David Platt, played by Jack P. Shepherd in final scenes.  

Following Kylie’s tragic death, David went on to find love with Clayton’s mum Shona Ramsey. 

Following her departure from Corrie, Paula made an appearance on Call The Midwife and took on the role of Lauren during the UK tour of Kinky Boots.
