Emma Watson says she’s starting to miss acting, even though she found one part of the job incredibly disheartening. She also shared that she’s returning to work on a new project after taking a six-year break.
Since appearing in *Little Women* in 2019, the *Harry Potter* star has stepped back from acting to dedicate herself to activism and education, preferring a more private life.
In a conversation with *Hollywood Authentic*, Emma Watson admitted she still enjoyed acting, even though she wasn’t a fan of the publicity that came with it. She explained that her career was incredibly lucky and unique, saying, “I really hit the jackpot with acting, and what happened to me is rare.”

For me, the work itself was less demanding than constantly having to promote and sell it. It was easy to get overwhelmed by that aspect. To be honest, I really don’t miss the selling part at all – I found it incredibly draining.
I really miss being able to use my skills and express my creativity. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to do much of the work I actually loved. Once you’re on a film set, there’s very little time for practice or preparation.

I recently read an interview with this actress – you might know her from *Beauty and the Beast* – and she talked about acting in a really interesting way. She called it a super intense form of meditation, which she found incredibly freeing. She even said she really misses that feeling – it clearly meant a lot to her!
Even though she’s been away from acting for a while, Emma Watson suggested she has a new project coming up. She described it as something completely different from anything she’s done before. While she hasn’t revealed details, she did say she’s open to the possibility of working as a director or producer in the future.
I’m still hoping to see what Emma Watson does next, but in the meantime, I’m so happy Little Women is now on Netflix UK! It was added last month, so I’ve been rewatching it – it’s fantastic!

Greta Gerwig’s film is a period drama based on Louisa May Alcott’s beloved 1868 novel. It tells the story of the four March sisters – Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth – and their journeys of self-discovery in 19th-century Massachusetts.
The film boasts a stellar cast, including Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, James Norton, Laura Dern, Bob Odenkirk, Timothée Chalamet, Eliza Scanlen, Meryl Streep, and Emma Watson, who plays the oldest sister, Meg.
Little Women is streaming now on Netflix.
