Emma Stone keeps a low profile beneath a beanie hat and shades as she revisits Cruella filming location in London – ahead of the blockbuster’s much-anticipated sequel
As a dedicated follower of Emma Stone’s career, I must say that her low-key visit to the iconic Portobello Road in London is as intriguing as it gets! The anticipation for the Cruella sequel has been building ever since Disney announced its production, and seeing Emma back at the filming location only fuels my excitement.
On Thursday, Emma Stone discreetly stopped by the old set of Cruella, which is located on Portobello Road in London, before the upcoming release of the film’s sequel.
In a casual outing, the 35-year-old American actress, known for portraying Cruella de Vil in the hit Disney film of 2021, exuded timeless elegance wearing a striped sweater and denim.
Under a casual beanie hat and sunglasses, she concealed her well-known facial traits. To finish off, she wore a pair of stylish brown sandals.
The twice-Oscar-winning individual carried her necessary items in a compact black leather handbag, adorning herself with gold jewelry.
Portobello Road, well-known for its antique marketplaces, appeared in the movie during scenes where the character Emma went shopping for an elegant dress.
Approximately a month following the film’s release in cinemas, Disney announced that a follow-up was indeed underway, and Emma finalized her agreement to reprise her role about two months afterwards.
During its summer 2021 release, it earned approximately $235.5 million globally with an initial budget of around $100 million, resulting in substantial profits.
Previously, the actress assured us that the sequel is indeed on track. Here’s hoping we get to see it sooner, rather than having to wait longer.
When asked by Variety if she has reviewed the script for the sequel so far, she acknowledged that it’s currently under development, or as she put it, “a work-in-progress situation.”
‘Yeah, we’ll see what happens,’ she said, as she was asked, ‘How much do you want to revisit that?’
As a devoted admirer, I can genuinely say that she’s simply captivating. And about our future plans, well, only time will tell. To be honest, things are still taking shape – it’s an ongoing process. This is how I’d put it.
It’s anticipated that both Craig Gillespie, who directed Cruella and previously worked on I, Tonya, and Tony McNamara, screenwriter of Cruella and Poor Things, will be back for the upcoming sequel. However, progress on the project seems to have slowed down so far.
As a die-hard admirer, I can’t help but feel the anticipation brewing within me since Disney hasn’t given us a peek into the production timeline or release date for Cruella 2! The thrill of another adventure with our beloved villainess is all that’s on my mind!
In the face of the devastating impact of the pandemic on cinematic releases, numerous films were directly channeled towards streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+, offering relatively low residual payments to actors such as myself.
In 2021, Emma’s representative Patrick Whitesell stated that the agreement for Cruella II ensures fairness for actors: ‘Given the significant changes in the media world, it’s unfair for distributors to shoulder an outsized portion of the risks while their creative partners are left on the sidelines.’
As a seasoned producer who has spent years navigating the complex world of Hollywood, I have learned that finding a balance between protecting artists and aligning studios’ interests is crucial for success. This agreement serves as a shining example that an equitable solution can be achieved, one that safeguards the creative integrity of talent while ensuring the financial stability of studios. Through my personal experience, I have witnessed too many instances where this delicate balance was not struck, leading to strained relationships and missed opportunities for all parties involved. This agreement offers hope that a new era of collaboration and understanding can emerge in the entertainment industry.
As a passionate advocate, I’m eagerly optimistic that this innovation might serve as a beacon, inviting even more artists and creators like me to join the thriving community on these burgeoning platforms, thereby contributing to their triumph.
