Emma Stone is kidnapped by Jesse Plemons in trailer for ‘Bugonia,’ their latest film with Yorgos Lanthimos
Judging from the initial trailer, it seems that “Bugonia,” the new project by Emma Stone and director Yorgos Lanthimos, promises to continue the tradition of their earlier works in terms of being uniquely strange and remarkable.
Bugonia,” a reinterpretation in English of the South Korean sci-fi comedy “Save the Green Planet!”, revolves around two individuals who harbor theories about conspiracies. They suspect that the main character, a powerful CEO portrayed by Stone, is an extraterrestrial with plans to annihilate Earth. Consequently, they decide to abduct her.
stone_and_lanthimos have collaborated on three films in the past: “The Favourite” in 2018, “Poor Things” in 2023, and “Kinds of Kindness” in 2024. With “Bugonia”, this will be their third movie made together within a span of three years.

Movies
showcasing sexually liberated acts by Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo, the Greek director’s recent work underlines his status as a creative figure unwilling to make concessions.
In my perspective as a movie enthusiast, I recently had a glimpse into an intriguing upcoming film, unveiled by Focus Features on Thursday. The trailer initiates with a voiceover, a profound metaphor, and a captivating shot of a beehive. Jesse Plemons, who has previously collaborated with Lanthimos and Stone in “Kinds of Kindness,” provides the voiceover as the narrative transitions to the confident and charismatic character portrayed by Stone.
Following a humorous abduction sequence featuring Plemons and Aidan Delbis’ characters, accompanied by Green Day’s “Basket Case,” the scene shifts to Stone, who is found lying unconscious on a bed. Sharp music transitions intermittently between intense scenes of brawls and high-speed pursuits, all presented in Lanthimos’ signature style.
“How can you tell she’s an alien?” Delbis asks. Plemons replies, “Well, the signs are obvious.”
In this intriguing preview, it’s unclear whether the CEO is an alien or not, according to the conspiracy theory – a mystery that only the upcoming movie can reveal.
As a passionate movie aficionado, I’m thrilled to share that the captivating film “Bugonia” is set for a limited screening on October 24th. However, mark your calendars because it will be widely available from October 31st! The talented Stavros Halkias and Alicia Silverstone grace our screens in this production.
