At the Bugonia premiere, I was lucky enough to be accompanied by Alicia Silverstone and Noomi Rapace. As we walked the red carpet, my loving husband, Dave McCary, gave me a sweet kiss – a truly memorable moment for me.

The La La Land actress, 36, is the star of Bugonia, a new movie by director Yorgos Lanthimos. 

On Thursday, Emma graced the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival’s premiere of her new dark comedy while wearing a sparkling silver dress, turning plenty of eyes her way.

While strolling down the red carpet, she was accompanied by her spouse, Dave. He affectionately kissed her cheek during their photoshoot moments.

Emma’s dress showcased an eye-catching balloon-like skirt design and dazzling diamond-studded spaghetti straps, finishing off the ensemble with a pair of Roger Vivier Epine Sandals.

Also in attendance was Clueless star Alicia, who features in the film in the role of Sandy. 

At the event, Alicia, aged 48, chose a light, airy shirt dress made of chiffon in a white color. This outfit had a rolled collar and included intricate scarf details.

My beloved Emma steps into the role of a CEO, but not just any CEO – she’s the one who finds herself in the hot seat (or should I say, back of a van?) when two die-hard conspiracy enthusiasts snatch her away, convinced that she’s actually an extraterrestrial being! The suspense is palpable, and I can hardly wait to see how this wild ride unfolds!

Inquired about her thoughts on whether there exists a superior intelligence overseeing human kind, she responded: “As for overseeing us, I have my doubts. However, among all the individuals throughout history, my personal favorite is Carl Sagan.

I recently watched the Cosmos series, and I’ve become deeply captivated by the presenter’s philosophy and scientific insights – it’s clear just how intelligent he is.

‘I strongly feel that considering ourselves as the only intelligent life form in this immense cosmos is quite self-centered. Therefore, let me make it clear – I do believe in extraterrestrial life forms! Thank you for listening!’

Previously, when asked about managing success without becoming otherworldly, she playfully retorted: ‘How can you tell that I’m not extraterrestrial?’

She noted, “There seems to be a complex part in that response which might be more extensive than what people are keen on hearing at this moment. However, I believe we all encounter this situation. It’s like feeling someone believes they understand you, leaving little room for you to manage your persona beyond myself.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share a personal insight: I find it essential to maintain distinct versions of myself to preserve my sanity. Here at home, I’m one person, focusing on self-care and relaxation. However, when I am with friends and family, a whole new me emerges, radiating joy, companionship, and love. Though they share the same essence, these two versions allow me to balance my life effectively and authentically express myself in different settings.

In simpler terms, after winning the Best Actress Oscar for her role in the Lanthimos movie “Poor Things,” Stone expressed her joy at being part of his troupe of actors, referring to his family of performers.

For the part, she had to bald her head, and she remarked about it by saying, ‘It’s quite simple really. You just grab the razor and shave it off. It’s much easier than managing any other hairstyle.’

In the action sequences, Stone and his co-star Jesse Plemons often took part themselves, supplemented by stunt doubles. As Plemons put it, “It might seem simple enough when you read in the script that ‘Teddy is running.’ But in reality, Teddy spends almost the entire third act on the run.

Bugonia, much like a modern interpretation of the 2003 Korean film “Save The Green Planet!”, is not strictly a remake as director Yorgos Lanthimos perceives it. He explains that while it bears resemblances to reality, it might not be entirely fictional or dystopian. He clarifies his stance by stating, “‘Bugonia’ isn’t necessarily a dystopian film in my opinion, for I believe dystopia implies the portrayal of a future state and the decline of civilization.

He continued by saying that humanity is on the brink of a critical moment and it’s crucial for people to make the right decisions. Given the state of global affairs, with advancing technology, AI, ongoing wars, climate change, and widespread denial about these issues, I’m unsure how long we can sustain our current trajectory.

2023 saw Yorgos Lanthimos at the Venice Film Festival with his darkly humorous film “Poor Things,” a project that ultimately claimed the Golden Lion for Best Film in the festival and went on to win a total of four Oscars, one of which was awarded to Emma Stone for her exceptional performance as Best Actress.

In 2024, Stone once more graced the screen in the anthology drama “Kinds of Kindness,” making its debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
