Emma Stone channels Gwyneth Paltrow’s iconic look from Great Expectations in NYC

Emma Stone recently recreated a famous outfit worn by Gwyneth Paltrow in the 1998 movie Great Expectations while she was out and about in New York City.

The 36-year-old actress, currently promoting her new film Bugonia, arrived at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert wearing a vintage outfit.

Gwyneth Paltrow wore a Donna Karan two-piece outfit in the movie version of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations.

Stone smiled brightly, wearing a green cardigan from the brand’s Spring/Summer 1996 collection and choosing to wear it open, without a shirt underneath.

She put on a long, flowing skirt that reached her ankles, along with black open-toed heels.

The Academy Award-winning actor kept jewelry to a minimum, wanting the overall daytime outfit to stand out.

During a past interview with Vogue, Paltrow reflected on why the green outfit became iconic.

She admitted the scene felt sensual, partly because of the kissing between her and her co-star, Ethan Hawke.

On Wednesday, Stone chose a timeless makeup style for her arrival at the late-night talk show filming.

A touch of blush highlighted her cheekbones, giving her a radiant glow, and a rosy pink lipstick completed the look.

The actor will star in the upcoming dark comedy, Bugonia, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos.

Stone and the director have worked together before, most notably on films like The Favourite (2018) and Poor Things (2023).

The movie, scheduled for release on October 24th, also stars Jesse Plemons, Alicia Silverstone, and Aidan Delbis.

According to IMDB, the story centers around two young men who believe in conspiracy theories. They kidnap the CEO of a large company, thinking she’s an alien planning to destroy the Earth.

Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons recently talked about how they maintained a positive and fun atmosphere while filming.

The actor described filming the movie as both fast-paced and incredibly demanding, like running a marathon at sprint speed. They explained that it took a significant mental and physical toll on them.

The two actors frequently discussed their children, and Jesse Plemons joked, ‘If you’re not a parent yourself, you can’t stop us from talking about them!’

Stone is mom to daughter Louise, four, whom she shares with husband Dave McCary.

Jesse Plemons and Kirsten Dunst married in 2022 and have two sons: Ennis, age seven, and James, age four.

Stone described filming as ‘intense’ because the set—a basement—felt very cramped, like being ‘packed in like sardines’.

The actress, known for her role in Easy A, explained that they rarely had serious moments, saying they were only truly serious for about 30 seconds each day.

When it comes to the premise of Bugonia, Stone recently revealed that she is a believer in aliens.

Last month at the Venice Film Festival, the actor discussed this issue, according to Variety.

Stone said he greatly admired the late astronomer Carl Sagan, calling him one of his favorite people and explaining that he was captivated by Sagan’s brilliant mind, philosophy, and scientific work.

He strongly felt that the notion of humanity being the only life in the immense universe – and not being observed by anyone else – was rather self-centered.

The actress then added, ‘So yes I’m coming out and saying it, I believe in aliens!’

Earlier this week, Sharon Stone looked glamorous at the Bugonia premiere in New York City, held at the Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday.

The actress stunned in an off-white Louis Vuitton gown, featuring delicate silver detailing.

Her locks were swept back away from her face while her side bangs rested on her forehead.

Emma Stone arrived at the screening in style, accompanied by her husband.
