I am utterly enamored with Emma Roberts’ captivating journey through life and her vibrant relationships. Her recent engagement announcement to Cody John was playfully reminiscent of her mother’s inadvertent public debut of her son’s image – a testament to the unique bond they share.
Emma Roberts has made their engagement to Cody John public on social media, playfully preempting her mother from doing so first.
I wanted to share this exciting news with you all before my mom beats me to it, so here’s a peek at my beautiful engagement to my loving partner. Check out our radiant smiles in this outdoor Instagram photo as I proudly display my new bling! #Engaged #NewFiancé #SharingTheJoy
I, as a devoted fan, noticed that the 33-year-old actress and star of “American Horror Story” and “Scream Queens,” Emma Roberts, seemed to be responding to her mother Kelly Cunningham’s social media post from February 2023. This post marked the first time Roberts had shared a glimpse of her 3-year-old son she had with her ex, Garrett Hedlund, who is an actor and musician.
As a film enthusiast and a son, I came across my mom’s post on social media featuring a picture of my face that she had shared without consulting me first. Initially, I felt a pang of surprise, but then I reminded myself of the deep love we share as a family. So, I took a deep breath, accepted it with a smile, and moved on with my day. #FamilyFirst #LoveWins #SpaceCadetLife
On Tuesday, Cunningham came across his daughter’s engagement announcement on Instagram and responded with a heartfelt “Congratulations!” message and some celebratory emojis.
On Tuesday, a representative from Roberts’ team declined to provide additional remarks, while John’s representative failed to respond promptly to The Times’ inquiry for a comment.
In August 2022, an Instagram post from John featuring him and “Unfabulous” alum Roberts locking lips confirmed their romantic relationship. Later, on New Year’s Eve, Roberts introduced their relationship to her followers by sharing a photo on her own grid.
I recently came across some news where my actress daughter’s father, Eric Roberts, was featured in a “Still Here Hollywood” podcast interview last week. In the conversation, he mentioned both of us – me and our renowned younger sister, Julia Roberts, who is an Oscar-winning actor herself.
I have a deep affection for my sister, yet find myself unable to discuss her, as she prefers it that way. Similarly, my daughter has asked me not to speak about certain matters, but I sometimes slip up despite my best intentions. Against my will, I find myself disclosing information about both of them at times.
The doting dad went on to gush about his little girl.
He’s deeply impressed by his daughter’s work lately. In fact, he finds it hard to believe how talented she has become. His pride in her is overwhelming, leaving him almost speechless. From her role in “Maybe I Do” up until now, she continues to astound him with her achievements. He’s thrilled to be her father as she excels and makes him incredibly proud.
An interview with him was taped in April, but gained widespread attention following Roberts’ revelation in late 2022 that being labeled a “nepo baby” hasn’t benefited her career as some might assume. Notably, Roberts wasn’t included in New York magazine’s controversial December 2022 article on nepotism, which she criticized as a petty attack that escalated into a viral hate campaign.
As a film enthusiast, I’ve found myself on the losing end more times than I care to count. In a recent interview with Flaunt, I admitted that my experiences in this industry have cost me more jobs than I’ve managed to secure. People have their opinions, and sometimes those opinions aren’t favorable towards people in my family. Regrettably, I’ve never been offered a job because of these opinions, and I can’t help but believe that I’ve lost a few opportunities as a result.
In the interview, her future husband seemed to show up, identified as “Anonymous Sweetheart,” who asked Roberts privately if she would accompany him for a yoga session off-camera. The media outlet mentioned that she described him as being associated with the entertainment industry rather than an actor herself, even though he has acted in several productions.
“At one point, I gained new insights and lost the desire to date actors any longer,” Roberts shared. “I’ve pondered if such relationships work out well for them. Frankly, most of the actors I’ve encountered can be categorized as Method actors, which I find challenging in a romantic context – especially considering their intense character portrayals.”
Previously, Roberts had a long-term relationship with her “American Horror Story” co-star Evan Peters which ended in a split in 2019 after seven years of on-again, off-again dating. Her more recent romance with Hedlund came to an end in 2021 following a three-year courtship.
