Emma Mackey and her boyfriend, Martin Aleman, stepped out on the red carpet for the premiere of Ella McCay at Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre on Wednesday. It was a rare public appearance for the couple.
The 29-year-old Sex Education actress seemed very happy with her partner while walking the red carpet.
Emma, the lead actress, looked stylishly relaxed for the event in a sleek black dress. It had a soft, rounded neckline and delicate straps.
James L. Brooks directed the film, which features Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, Rebecca Hall, and Ayo Edebiri in its cast.
This funny movie centers on a hopeful young woman trying to balance her family and career, and explores the challenges – and joys – of loving and living with the people closest to you.

The story follows a 34-year-old lieutenant governor who’s trying to balance the demands of a tough job with problems in his personal life. It takes place in a state that isn’t specifically named.
She was getting ready to become governor after the state’s long-serving governor unexpectedly accepted a position in President-elect Obama’s cabinet.
Emma and Martin were first seen as a couple at the 2023 BAFTAs, where they kissed after Emma won the Rising Star Award.
Although they haven’t been seen together publicly since the LIDO Festival in London last June, they seemed very affectionate, with him putting his arm around Emma’s waist to show his support.
In February 2022, film director and photographer Martin shot photos of Emma for Flaunt magazine.
I remember when Emma first started dating Dan Whitlam – they went Instagram official back in 2018, and it was so exciting! They eventually made their red carpet debut as a couple in 2019, but of course, things changed before she met Martin.
The exact timing of Emma’s breakup isn’t clear, as she generally prefers to keep her personal relationships private. She’s mentioned before that she values her privacy and likes to stay out of the spotlight.
Emma opted to delete her Instagram account in 2021.

Emma told Elle Magazine she’s been very open about her concerns with Instagram and social media, explaining that she isn’t particularly interested in the fame side of being an actress.
She explained that pursuing fame or influence just doesn’t feel authentic to her. She finds it amusing – and a bit ironic – that she’s ended up in a career that doesn’t actually allow her to live the quiet, simple life she desires, and she wonders why anyone would look up to someone like her.
Emma burst onto screens as wild child Maeve in Sex Education.
Growing up, the headmaster’s daughter had a very protected and academic childhood, attending Catholic school. Before becoming famous for her role as the rebellious Maeve on Netflix, she worked as a translator.
Emma grew up in northwest France, the daughter of a French school principal and an English mother who worked for a charity.
She came to the UK from France when she was 17 to study English Literature at the University of Leeds. She also enjoyed acting in local theatre and has lived in the UK ever since.
