Emma MacDonald Speaks Out After Shock Breakup With NRL Star Ryan Papenhuyzen

Emma MacDonald is opening up about her separation from NRL star Ryan Papenhuyzen.

On Wednesday, the ex-girlfriend of the Melbourne Storm fullback posted on TikTok several videos indicating that she had started looking for an apartment in Sydney, as unexpected circumstances – or what she called a ‘curveball’ – had been thrown her way.

Despite it being a significant surprise, a major shift, and something not foreseen, Emma expressed her eagerness to return following her relocation to Melbourne to reunite with the rugby player.

In the video, she expressed her tremendous enthusiasm for being reunited with her friends and loved ones in Sydney once more. The clip, viewed 156.8K times since its posting, captures this sentiment beautifully.

In another clip posted to the platform, she thanked her fans for their support in the caption.

‘So soppy but truly EVERYTHING happens for a reason,’ she said.

‘If I didn’t start posting I wouldn’t have this amazing community to get me through this.’

‘I am forever grateful for you all, wish I could repay u all.’ 

The social media star then went on to document her house hunting experience – with no luck.  

As a devoted fan, I couldn’t help but share the exciting news that rugby sensation Ryan made public his blossoming relationship with Emma on various social platforms last August. Earlier in the year, he had confirmed his status as taken off the market.

The Melbourne Storm star, hailing originally from Sydney, hinted around two months ago that he was ‘confined’, implying a possible change or commitment.

Ryan posted an image of himself alongside Emma with the caption, ‘pookie era’.

On the same note, the TikTok trendsetter additionally posted a picture from Ryan’s match the previous Saturday, sparking excitement among fans.

‘You and Pap. OMG,’ one user wrote below the post.

In June, Ryan unintentionally revealed his relationship status during an interview on the Ausmerican Aces podcast, which he shared with teammates Cameron Munster and Jahrome Hughes.

‘Yeah boys, I don’t live the single life any more,’ the fullback announced.

‘Is that exclusive?’ Cameron and Jarome pressed, to which Ryan responded reluctantly, ‘Could be.’

After Cameron and Jahrome suggested he should change his wording so as not to offend their unnamed companion, Ryan responded with: “Indeed, I no longer lead a bachelor lifestyle.

‘There’s no launches yet, it’s very early stages,’ he added.

When quizzed by Munster and Hughes about the mystery woman, Papenhuyzen remained tight-lipped.

‘So you’re seeing someone?’ Cameron said, to which Ryan replied: ‘Yes.’

‘Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane?’ Jahrome questioned.

‘It doesn’t matter,’ Ryan replied.

In addition, some supporters acknowledged their puzzlement as they believed Ryan was still in a relationship with Australian Diamonds and West Coast Fever netball player Kelsey Browne.

The sporting pair split in 2022 after three years together.

He was later linked to two-time Olympic swimming champion and world record holder Ariarne Titmus.
