Emma D'Arcy's House of the Dragon castmates show up to support her new play

As a longtime fan of both Game of Thrones and its upcoming prequel House of the Dragon, I must say that I am thrilled to see the cast members expanding their horizons and taking on new roles. Emma D’Arcy, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon, is currently starring in a Greek myth-inspired drama at the National Theatre in London, The Other Place. Having attended many a stage performance in my days, I can easily imagine D’Arcy’s powerful presence commanding the stage with grace and conviction.

You won’t get to watch fresh episodes of “House of the Dragon,” HBO’s prequel to “Game of Thrones,” for a while, but the cast members are staying active in the interim. Currently, Emma D’Arcy (who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen) is performing in a drama titled “The Other Place” at London’s National Theatre, inspired by Greek mythology. Given D’Arcy’s captivating onscreen presence, it seems plausible that they would be just as effective on the stage.

Although the National Theater is quite a distance from where I reside, making it unlikely that I’ll have the chance to visit. However, my fellow cast members from “House of the Dragon,” particularly Harry Collett (portraying Rhaenyra’s son Jace) and Ewan Mitchell (depicting her younger half-brother Aemond), are located much closer by. In a video on X, these “House of the Dragon” actors can be seen supporting their co-star at work.

On “House of the Dragon”, Aemond and Rhaenyra might be engaged in conflict, but it’s delightful to witness them momentarily set aside their fictional discords for an evening at the theater!

Emma D’Arcy stars in scary short film Rhoda

Discussing D’Arcy’s career, Deadline mentions that she is starring in a new short film titled Rhoda, which debuts at the London Film Festival today. The film, Rhoda, centers around a solitary woman named Rhoda (Juliet Stevenson) who has lived alone all her life. Things become unsettling when she agrees to take in a peculiar lodger named Louis (D’Arcy).

How does one find them becoming unsettling? Frankly, I’m not entirely clear, and I’m concerned that revealing more might unveil the mystery prematurely. The intriguing short film is penned and steered by Alex Lawther, an actor from ‘Black Mirror’, whom D’Arcy has collaborated with before on the production titled ‘For People in Trouble’. Regarding ‘Rhoda’, D’Arcy stated that Lawther skillfully portrayed something not often depicted in drama – the significant risk inherent in allowing another person access to one’s private domain.

As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed that Rhaenyra Targaryen has been absent from our screens for a bit, but it seems like her portrayer, Emma D’Arcy, is everywhere! Excitingly, the epic series House of the Dragon is anticipated to make its comeback for a third season on HBO and Max around 2026. So here’s to hoping we get to see more of Rhaenyra’s journey soon!
