A widely accepted fact is that if a woman has substantial wealth, it’s likely she longs for… a beloved pet dog.
What Jane Austen would have made of this is anyone’s guess.
I’ve been fortunate enough to be among the first to lay eyes on Emma Corrin’s portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in Netflix’s fresh adaptation of Austen’s Pride And Prejudice, and let me tell you, it seems that she is wholeheartedly embracing the character’s incisive intellect and spirited independence as depicted in these exclusive photos.
During a break from filming, Emma, wearing historical attire and sporting a curled wig, was spotted affectionately embracing her pet dog Spencer. This scene underscores, as it does in the book, that significant connections can manifest themselves in various ways.
Later, the star could be seen up on a rooftop, appearing less like a Georgian heroine and more like an ordinary individual. She was seen laughing with Freya Mavor, portraying Elizabeth Bennet’s sister Jane, and munching on a banana.
Emma also appeared to grimace with trepidation while gingerly descending some scaffolding.

29-year-old actress, famed for her portrayal of a young Princess Diana on The Crown, is frequently spotted strolling Spencer, her pet, in their Margate residence and in the northern part of London, where she cohabited with Rami Malek, a 44-year-old Oscar-winning actor from Bohemian Rhapsody, in a property valued at £5 million.
Similarly to Elizabeth Bennet, the actress’s romantic affairs seem complicated. She recently broke up with Malek, and rumors now circulate that she is seeing Zachary Hart, who performed alongside Emma in a play of Anton Chekhov’s “The Seagull.
In the much-awaited film version of Jane Austen’s novel from 1813, Jack Lowden, known for his role in Slow Horses, will play the sought-after Mr. Darcy, while Olivia Colman has been cast as the persistent Mrs. Bennet, Emma’s mother.
Netflix has also revealed other character stars like Rufus Sewell portraying Mr. Bennet and Fiona Shaw, known for her role in Killing Eve, taking on the role of Lady Catherine de Bourgh.
Regrettably, Jack Lowden won’t recreate Colin Firth’s iconic moment from the 1995 miniseries where he emerged soaking wet from a lake, causing many females to swoon.
This year is the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birth, and a six-episode Netflix show penned by Dolly Alderton will debut on our screens in the early months of next year.
As a die-hard enthusiast, I’ve got to express my thoughts about the recent casting revelations for Netflix’s upcoming Pride & Prejudice adaptation. Frankly, this announcement has ignited quite a stir among fans like myself, and some are even contemplating boycotting the series altogether.
On Friday, Netflix shared a picture on social media of the Bennet women on set.

The announcement was made that work on ‘Pride & Prejudice’ has begun, something you’ve been eagerly anticipating.
Take a peek at this initial presentation showcasing Emma Corrin, Freya Mavor, Olivia Colman, Hopey Parish, Rhea Norwood, and Hollie Avery in their roles as the Bennet sisters.
Fans swiftly took to the comments section to voice their disapproval, with one person saying, “I should cancel my Netflix subscription right away.
‘This casting is awful what the f**k,’ another added.
‘You cannot be serious,’ someone else said.
‘Oh help… praying this isn’t a cock up like Persuasion.
‘Actually scratch that… this is a reminder to me to unsubscribe,’ another shared.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, let me share with you some exciting news about an upcoming production: I’m thrilled to be part of the ensemble, alongside Jamie Demetriou portraying Mr Collins, Daryl McCormack bringing Mr Bingley to life, and Louis Partridge embodying Mr Wickham. According to Variety, these talented actors are joining the cast, promising an engaging and entertaining experience for all.

In the expanded cast, Rhea Norwood portrays Lydia Bennet, and Siena Kelly steps into the role of Caroline Bingley. Additionally, Hopey Parish and Hollie Avery are set to make their acting debuts by playing Mary Bennet and Kitty Bennet respectively.
The TV series Heartstopper is being handled by its directors and writers, specifically Euros Lyn and Dolly Alderton.
Occasionally, I’m fortunate enough to be involved in sharing an extraordinary tale again, much like only a few others get to do, as Alderton expressed in his statement, according to the report.
Exploring Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ again feels like revisiting the foundational script for romantic comedies. It’s delightful to discover, not only the classic elements, but also new interpretations that breathe fresh life into this cherished novel.
The limited series will finish filming in the UK at the end of 2025, per What’s On Netflix.
