Emma Bunton finally clears up THOSE Spice Girls and All Saints feud rumours

Emma Bunton has finally cleared up those Spice Girls and All Saints feud rumours.

On Monday, sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton, known as All Saints, appeared on Heart Radio with Emma, age 50, to talk about their relationship and whether they truly get along.

Emma started the interview by saying: ‘Now I need to start off by saying we are mates.’

Nicola then affirmed: ‘We are mates!’ and Natalie whole heartedly agreed.

You know, people sometimes assume things about relationships in the industry, and it’s funny how those rumors stick around! I was chatting with Emma recently, and she cleared something up for me. Apparently, there’s been this idea that she and the girls from All Saints didn’t get along back in the 90s, which is totally not true! They’re actually really close – they went to school together! It just goes to show you shouldn’t always believe what you hear, and sometimes the best friendships are the ones that last a lifetime.

Natalie said, ‘We’ve been friends forever! We’ve known you since we were kids – since we were eleven, actually. And I’ve always thought you’ve never changed a bit.’

Nicola playfully said, ‘You haven’t changed a bit!’ and Natalie chimed in, ‘You’re the kindest, most beautiful, and loving person.’

Even though Emma says everything’s fine, I’ve been hearing for ages that there’s tension brewing behind the scenes with some of the band. It’s been a persistent rumour, and honestly, as a long-time fan, it’s a little worrying.

Last November, Melanie Blatt of All Saints playfully said she’ll always jokingly resent the Spice Girls. This came after some fans accused her of being upset about the Spice Girls’ greater success.

The singer, age 50, was a guest on Sunday Brunch, chatting with hosts Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy about the BBC documentary, Girlbands Forever.

Okay, so I was watching the documentary, and Melanie finally said what we’ve all been thinking! She was so frustrated, and honestly, it felt so good to hear it. She pointed out that All Saints really put in the work for years, grinding and building their fanbase, and then the Spice Girls just… exploded. She even said ‘manufactured,’ which, YES! It felt like the Spice Girls were just created and shot to fame while All Saints actually earned it. It just wasn’t fair, and I’m so glad she said it!

All Saints was made up of Melanie alongside Shaznay Lewis, Nicole and Natalie.

When talking about the past competition between her and another band, Melanie addressed accusations from fans that she seems resentful.

She admitted that people often perceive her as resentful, and then confirmed, ‘I am.’

Melanie and the hosts began laughing as she continued: ‘I am bitter. I’m bitter and I’m jealous.’

The singer explained that she and Emma have become very close friends, even though their groups were rivals back when they were both in girlbands.

She continued: ‘I love Emma, she’s a good mate.’

Melanie explained that she knew a bit about Mel C and thought she was great. Her issue wasn’t with the artist herself, but with the idea of combining music with selling snacks like crisps and lollipops.

We put a lot of effort into our music, and we disliked being labeled a ‘girlband’ because we simply wanted to be recognized as a band, plain and simple. We didn’t want to be categorized or limited in any way.

She concluded: ‘I did have a major problem. I’ll have beef until I die with them. I will.’

She admits she struggled with the Spice Girls’ rapid success. After years of hard work in her own career, she felt frustrated by how quickly they became famous.

‘And were obviously manufactured. The band was made for a purpose.’

All Saints was originally a band from 2001 to 2006, broke up, and then reunited twice – once between 2001 and 2006, and again from 2008 to 2022.

Their popular songs include hits like “Never Ever,” “Black Coffee,” “Under The Bridge,” “All Hooked Up,” and “Bootie Call.”

Meanwhile, Spice Girls are arguably one of the most popular and well-known girl groups of all time.

Formed in 1994 by Chris Herbert, the Spice Girls – consisting of Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Mel C – became famous for hits like “Wannabe,” “Spice Up Your Life,” “Viva Forever,” and “2 Become 1.”

In addition to Melanie’s comments it’s clear there were some other tensions back in the day too.

Back in 2016, Mel B said she got into a physical fight with Shaznay in a bathroom when both were at the peak of their careers. However, Shaznay strongly denied the story.

Mel B shared on the Allegedly podcast that she got into a physical fight with the singer known as Never Ever after a disagreement, but Shaznay Lewis called the claims upsetting.

She shockingly revealed that she and another person had a heated argument during which she felt so upset she almost pulled out her hair extensions, while speaking with Theo Von and Matthew Cole Weiss.

She recounted an incident involving the group All Saints, mentioning she had gotten into a physical altercation with one of the members, Shaznay, in a bathroom.

She became confrontational with me, and I reacted by trying to pull off her hair extensions. She then began to choke me, but we were separated, and I ultimately came out on top.

The Daily Mail contacted a representative for Mel B for comment at the time.

A representative for Shaznay strongly denied the story, calling it untrue and dismissing Mel’s claims as sensationalized.

According to the representative, Shaznay Scott denies the story. Mel B did attend an All Saints concert and was asked to join the after-party, where she had a short, pleasant conversation with Shaznay. That was the extent of their interaction.

They don’t have a close relationship, so we’re confused why Mel would invent such a terrible story.
