As a fashion enthusiast who has spent countless hours poring over the pages of Vogue and attending local thrift store expeditions, I must say that Emily Ratajkowski truly outdid herself this Halloween. Her Jennifer Lopez costume was nothing short of iconic, capturing the essence of JLo’s legendary Versace moment from 2000.

This Halloween, the 33-year-old model chose to emulate a famous pop star by donning the legendary green Versace gown, reminiscent of the one she wore to the Grammys in 2000.

Emily Ratajkowski styled her hair and makeup, aiming for a resemblance of Jennifer Lopez’s famous look, then posted a brief video on both her Instagram and TikTok platforms.

She lip-syncs to the lyrics “I enjoy styling my hair like this. It brings back memories of when I was sixteen in the Bronx, running up and down the block. A rebellious teenager with endless dreams and no boundaries.

The line is from Lopez’s documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told and inspired a viral moment itself this past summer.

In a striking resemblance, both Lopez’s and EmRata’s dresses plunged down to their navels at the neckline.

The skirt was made of diaphanous green fabric with a jungle print on it.

Emily captioned the post, ‘no limits, all dreams.’

From San Diego, this individual isn’t the initial person to attempt replicating Lopez’s renowned style, yet she might have come closest to doing it properly.

At the Versace fashion show in September 1999, Amber Valletta walked the runway wearing the dress, although it was a slightly shorter adaptation compared to the one that Jennifer Lopez would popularize the next year.

In 1999, when the Met Gala had a theme centered around Rock Style, Donatella Versace, the creator of the dress, opted to adorn herself with the very piece she designed for that event.

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell also wore the gown in January 2000 – before Lopez.

In 2019, Lisa Rinna, a star on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, donned a Halloween costume that was similar to Jennifer Lopez’s dress, and she received JLo’s endorsement for it.

‘She looked awesome. It was really cute,’ Lopez told Access Hollywood at the time.

In the year 2000, Jennifer was determined to wear the bold dress, but her fashion advisor attempted to dissuade her from doing so.

The dress I was considering had been worn by others before. My stylist advised me against wearing it, saying, “I urge you not to wear it. Someone else has already worn it.

In a Vogue video, Lopez stated, “I said something like, ‘Since you purchased it and it’s the most attractive one, I’ll go ahead and wear it.’ And that’s exactly what transpired. It certainly created quite a commotion.

Lopez stated, “It seems each generation requires a distinctive ‘Marilyn Dress’-like symbol, and I believe this piece is the emblematic dress for our current generation.
