Emily Ratajkowski Blasts Blue Origin’s Space Trip: “I’m Literally Disgusted” Over Planet Damage

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I find myself aligning with the increasing voices of criticism towards Blue Origin, following their high-profile, all-female space voyage on Monday.

The model, aged 33, expressed her strong disapproval towards the brief 11-minute journey, during which Katy Perry, Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, civil rights activist Amanda Nguyen, ex-rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, and filmmaker Kerianne Flynn were involved.

In a TikTok video, Ratajkowski expressed her thoughts about the morning’s space mission as follows: “That space mission this morning? It’s just too incredible to be real. I mean, it’s almost too absurd to believe.

She continued, “It seems you deeply value our planet, Earth, and your actions revolve around its preservation. However, it’s concerning that you’re boarding a spaceship, one funded and constructed by a corporation that’s known for devastating our planet.

Blue Origin is owned by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, 61, who is engaged to Sanchez, 55.

Ratajkowski went on pondering the reason behind the swift space expedition. ‘Gaze upon the current condition of our world, and consider the amount of resources invested to send these women into space. To what end? What was the advertising angle?’

‘And then to try to make it like… I’m disgusted, literally I’m disgusted.’ 

Besides Ratajkowski, both Olivia Wilde and Oliva Munn voiced their disagreement with the space mission as well.

After making it back securely to Texas, Perry was captured on camera planting a kiss on the ground, an image that swiftly went viral on various social media platforms.

This month, during an appearance on Today With Jenna And Friends, Munn voiced her criticism towards the upcoming space mission prior to its liftoff.

She asked, “What’s their action here? Can you explain the reason behind it? Just to clarify, I’m referring to their activities.” And she continued, “I understand it might not be fashionable, but there are numerous other critical matters that deserve our attention in the world today.

Munn then added, ‘What are you going to do up in space? What are you doing up there?’

The mom with two kids likened the experience to a fun Disneyland ride, then questioned why those traveling felt compelled to inform others rather than simply enjoying the journey, returning, and keeping the memories to themselves.

As a lifestyle advisor, I must express my honest thoughts: It might seem extravagant to some, yet the cost of space travel is significantly high compared to essential life needs, such as affording daily necessities like eggs for many individuals.

Host, Jenna Bush Hager, subsequently shared with Olivia that their all-female team is planning to travel to space in an elegant manner. This news left the actress looking puzzled.

‘They are getting their hair done, their makeup done, even eyelash extensions,’ Hager continued.

Munn was left speechless once again and then questioned, ‘They said this out loud?’

The actress subtly declined by shaking her head without speaking, prompting Hager to joke, “Well, I bet there was plenty of eyelash adhesive to secure that look in place. All I can think about is that!

The Blue Origin Flight NS-31 was a unique event, as it featured the first all-women crew for a launch since cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova embarked on her solitary space voyage back in 1963 (Russian origin).

After the crew touched down, a number of celebrities called out their voyage on social media.

As an over-the-moon fanboy, I’d put it this way: “I was ecstatically lucky enough to find myself, in a heartbeat, among the chosen few, even though Amy Schumer humorously boasted about snagging a last-minute pass for the mission.

As a curious explorer, I found myself carrying an item that holds no personal significance to me. It was simply a matter of it being in my bag during a routine subway ride. Then, out of the blue, I received a text asking if I would like to embark on a journey to outer space. Intrigued, and with a hint of excitement, I replied affirmatively. Thus, I’m off to space!

At the end of the video, Schumer expressed her gratitude to everyone who helped her reach this point, and added with excitement, ‘I can’t wait to meet you all up in space!’

Gayle and Sanchez didn’t hesitate to speak up when it came to justifying their participation in Blue Origin’s inaugural all-female mission.

Following their journey’s completion, the pair addressed queries concerning the criticism surrounding their adventure, particularly sharing their thoughts on Munn’s characterization of the expedition as ‘extravagant.’

King, aged 70, shared with People magazine that she believes those voicing criticism may not fully grasp the situation at hand.

The journalist defended their trip to space by saying, “We are able to discuss with young women and girls what this experience signifies.

Meanwhile, Sánchez, revealed the judgment gets her ‘really fired up.’

Earlier this year, it came as a surprise when it was announced that a group of six women would be traveling to space. Initially, Sanchez expressed disbelief, stating she couldn’t comprehend it was actually taking place.
