Emily in Paris star unsure whether they will return for season 5
As a seasoned gamer of the world of streaming series, I must confess that the latest revelation about Lucas Bravo’s reservations for returning to Emily in Paris has left me somewhat bewildered and slightly heartbroken. You see, I’ve been following Gabriel’s culinary journey since the very beginning, and his transformation from a playful, vivacious chef to a melancholic, lost soul has been as unpredictable as a rollercoaster ride in Disneyland Paris.
Emily in Paris star Lucas Bravo has revealed he’s “questioned” whether he’ll return for season 5.
The actor is primarily recognized for portraying chef Gabriel, a romantic interest of the main character Emily Cooper (acted by Lily Collins), in the popular Netflix show.
In a recent chat with IndieWire, Bravo expressed concerns about the plotlines and character decisions, causing him to ponder his continued role on the show.
During Season 1, the ‘seductive chef’ was quite integral to my experience, but as the seasons progressed, we drifted further apart due to his decisions and the paths they steered him towards. Now, I find myself quite distant from him.
He found it less enjoyable to continue portraying a cherished character that was gradually turning into something unrecognizable, which he had invested so much of himself in. To put it simply, the bond between them seemed to weaken over time.
As a fervent admirer, I’ve voiced my apprehensions and proposed modifications regarding Gabriel, yet I find myself constrained by the boundaries of creativity within the script.
He mentioned that he had made numerous attempts over extended periods to introduce subtle details, but there’s limited flexibility on the filming location. We can’t modify even a single word or feeling. They are clear about their vision, and our role is simply to follow through with it.
He continued: “It makes me question if I want to be part of Season 5… because my contract ends at Season 4. I really want to see if Gabriel gets back to his fun, cheeky, playful, alive self. Because three seasons playing melancholic, sad, depressed, and lost is not fun anymore.”
Although he expresses some dissatisfaction about his character’s storyline, the actor from “Ticket to Paradise” openly expresses his gratitude for all the professional opportunities the show has provided him with.
He expressed, “The series is dear to me, for it set off my journey. In truth, I admire both the show and its cast. To articulate this, I fear I may come across as ungrateful, but when one adores something, they aspire for its finest iteration.
To put it plainly, I must admit that I’ve felt quite vexed about how my character’s path is unfolding. Nevertheless, let’s wait and see what happens next. Rest assured, the storyline isn’t concluded yet.
In the finale of season four’s second part, Emily found herself in Rome, enchanting a fresh love interest named Marcello, who also happened to be an Agence Grateau client (played by Eugenio Franceschini). Following their business agreement, Sylvie requested that Emily remain in Rome to manage the newly established office for their firm.
Upon hearing about Emily’s overseas promotion, Gabriel contemplates visiting her with the intention of rekindling their relationship. However, will his efforts be successful?
It was officially announced in September that Season 5 will continue, and this means Emily will stay in Rome for a while longer. Viewers can expect to discover what becomes of her during this time.
Emily in Paris seasons 1-4 are available now on Netflix.
