As a longtime expat and avid fan of shows that delve into the complexities of cross-cultural living, I must admit my excitement when Emily In Paris first graced our screens. However, after binge-watching all seasons, I found myself yearning for a more nuanced portrayal of life in the City of Lights.
Feedback is rolling out regarding the latest season of Emily in Paris on Netflix, and it’s largely negative.
In the next installment, it’s Lily Collins reprising her role as Emily Cooper, a young Midwestern American lady, who leaves behind her old life to embark on a fresh opportunity in the city of lights – Paris.
As the premiere of Season 4 approaches this Thursday, several critics’ opinions have begun to surface, and a significant number of them seem unfavorable.
The show returns after a two-year hiatus, though that wait wasn’t seemingly long enough for some critics, who savagely bashed the show.
A review from Leila Latif of The Guardian was perhaps the most brutal, calling the show a ‘televisual black hole’ that is, ‘devoid of plot, charisma and intrigue.’
