As a dedicated follower of Emily Blunt’s career, I have always admired her for her incredible talent and her unwavering commitment to using her platform for good. However, it was not until recently that I truly understood the depth of her character and the struggles she has overcome.

Emily Blunt and her husband, John Krasinski, showed affectionate moments during their appearance at the American Institute for Stuttering‘s 18th Annual Gala held in New York City on Monday evening.

Once more, the 41-year-old actress served as the host for the gala, having collaborated with the institute for close to two decades.

For several years now, the actress has regularly taken the stage as the event’s emcee. She’s candidly discussed her personal battles with stammering, explaining that it’s primarily a matter of neural function, frequently inherited, and not a mental health issue.

At the gala, Emily shone particularly brightly against her 44-year-old husband’s elegant suit, sporting a striking white gown adorned with vibrant red flowers.

She put on a busty display in the plunging sleeveless dress, which featured thick straps.

Instead of a subtle design, she highlighted the vibrant, seemingly impulsive streaks of bold crimson running haphazardly across the dress – reminiscent of carefree brushstrokes on canvas.

Emily’s layered skirt had a lower section that stopped around her midriff, with the primary layer extending close to the ground, almost hiding her strappy sandals.

In a stylish finish, the actress from Sicario wore her sun-kissed golden waves, flowing gracefully over her shoulders.

She was accompanied on the red carpet by her husband, John, whose navy blue suit stood out in stark contrast to her bold, colorful outfit.

He matched the suit up with a crisp white dress shirt, a sleek navy silk tie, stylish gray-blue striped socks, and polished black leather footwear.

The Office star completed the classy outfit with a luxury wristwatch with a black leather strap.

As I stood before the cameras with Emily, our eyes locked, and we exchanged a heartfelt gaze, our faces gleaming with joy.

She had been part of the team that hosted the gala, as she’s backed the Institute for 18 years, starting from 2006.

At Variety’s Power of Women gathering last November, Emily openly discussed her past struggle with stuttering.

She characterized the situation as if there was an uninvited guest residing inside her, one who refuses to contribute to the expenses, as reported by Variety.

She added that the condition ‘completely and utterly misrepresents who you are as a person.’

Despite some people’s surprise, Emily openly acknowledges that she has a stutter. She stressed that this doesn’t change her identity, and at times, especially when expressing specific words in certain situations, her stutter may become noticeable.

She added that speaking on the phone is ‘a bit of a nightmare,’ an experience that many people who stutter are familiar with.

At the event, Blunt was recognized with the Wells Fargo Power of Women Alumni Award, in acknowledgment of her dedication to assisting children conquer stuttering through her work at the American Institute for Stuttering.

She concluded her speech by urging people interacting with someone with a stutter to be patient and to not try to finishing their sentences or urge them to ‘slow down, or breathe, or spit it out.

Recently, Blunt shared screen time with Ryan Gosling in the critically acclaimed yet financially underperforming movie titled The Fall Guy. Additionally, she lent her voice to a character in the fantasy flick IF, a project penned and helmed by her spouse John.
