Emily Blunt ponders the cultural influence of The Devil Wears Prada, immersing herself in filming the sequel to the 2006 film.
The 42-year-old British actor, who portrays the character Emily Charlton, a somewhat tense Runway employee in the film, has now joined an esteemed group including Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, and her brother-in-law Stanley Tucci by agreeing to reprise their roles for the movie inspired by Vogue Magazine.
In an interview with Net-A-Porter’s digital magazine, PORTER, Emily expressed her admiration for the film’s cultural influence and shared some insights into her activities during downtime from photo shoots.
Emily shared the personal aspect of collaborating with Stanley, whom she mentions has been married to her sister Felicity since 2012, having met at a movie premiere. Emily also admitted that Stanley’s fondness for pasta and martinis isn’t very beneficial for his diet.
In accompanying photos, the actor appeared absolutely stunning in a collection of captivating snaps. One playful photo featured them wearing lingerie beneath an oversized coat, while another showed them dressed more casually in a white top and jeans.

As a dedicated follower, I proudly strutted my catwalk-ready appearance in an exhilarating photo session. With each pose, I exuded the essence of high fashion, adorning smoldering outfits that were featured in a prestigious publication.
Without a doubt, anticipation is growing to an extreme level as The Devil Wears Prada prepares for its comeback, tracing the unconventional professional journey of Andrea “Andy” Sachs’ character and the Miranda Priestly-like persona played by Meryl.
Upon rejoining, it’s Stanley’s character Nigel Kipling who holds a special place near Emily’s heart, as he shares a profound love story with her sister.
She mentioned: ‘It holds strong emotional significance for many of us… however, it might not align with your Devil Wears Prada eating plan, as he’s often preparing pasta and inviting me for nightly martinis.’
In the film, Emily’s character stood out significantly due to her portrayal, specifically her unusual pre-Paris Fashion Week eating habits. She confided in Andy that she restricts her food intake severely, but when she feels faint, she consumes a cube of cheese as a quick pick-me-up.
Speaking about the remarkable influence of the initial film, Emily commented: “We never anticipated the extraordinary trajectory it would take once we released it.
As a lifestyle connoisseur, I’d like to share a unique perspective about a timeless treasure that many have revisited countless times – 50, 60 times or more. This cherished piece has been there during heartrending moments such as the aftermath of breakups and when their parents were unwell. It’s an emotion that we all can relate to, experienced daily: “Wow, what a moment!

Emily additionally discussed their family life with her spouse, John Krasinski, famously known as Jim from The Office, and their children Hazel, aged 11, and Violet, who is nine. She mentioned that bedtime conversations are a crucial touchstone… the short, yet valuable ten-minute talks where they share everything – moments like these should never be overlooked.
Apart from creating a stir with her performance in The Devil Wears Prada, Emily is also generating buzz for her upcoming role alongside Dwayne Johnson in The Smashing Machine, set to release later this year.
The film is a biography tracing the life of ex-amateur wrestler and MMA combatant Mark Kerr, portrayed by Dwayne Johnson, with Emily playing the role of Dawn Staples, who was Kerr’s wife at that time.
In conversation, Emily remarked, “It’s clear that we’ll need to expose our chests deeply into such work… Another concern is that these individuals are still alive, and we’re essentially displaying their vital organs’ pulse on the monitor.
‘You just want to do right by these people who have lived through a lot.’

Following their joint appearance in the 2021 movie Jungle Cruise, Emily expressed her feelings about Dwayne’s acting: ‘He is a performer who never fades into the background. As his friend and fellow actor, it is incredibly moving for me to witness someone uncovering their true capabilities.’
Emily also discussed the nature of fame and the desire to be known.
She mentioned a strong yet complex longing to be recognized, but at the same time, she has apprehensions due to potential criticism. Therefore, it’s a delicate situation where she yearns for people to understand her, yet is afraid of the consequences as well.
