Emily Atack reveals ‘getting her kit off’ in sexy new role doesn’t undermine her message about violence against women as she insists’ ‘it shouldn’t matter’
As someone who has spent years immersed in the world of period dramas and intricate storytelling, I must say that the trailer for “Rivals” has piqued my interest in a most delightful way. The setting, the characters, the hints of scandal and romance – it all speaks to the rich tapestry of human experience that these types of productions so skillfully weave.
Emily Atack has emphasized that removing her clothes doesn’t weaken her efforts towards ending violence against women.
As a lifestyle expert, I find myself delving into the captivating world of the Disney+ series “Rivals,” where I embody the alluring character, Sarah Stratton, who’s known for her intricate relationships. This provocative show has been hailed as Disney+’s most sensual offering to date, leaving viewers spellbound.
As a die-hard admirer of the screen adaptation from Dame Jilly Cooper’s beloved novels, let me share an intriguing moment that left me speechless: Emily, who captivated audiences as Charlotte Hincliffe in The Inbetweeners, daringly shed her clothes alongside her co-star, engaging in a spirited game of tennis in the lush garden.
In a recent conversation, the actor clarified that portraying a character who leverages sexuality to advance doesn’t dilute their message in any way. They emphasize that it’s irrelevant.
She shared with The Mirror: “Many may question, ‘How can she advocate against women’s violence one moment and then expose herself in a performance the next? This seems contradictory.’ However, my intention is to convey that such actions or appearances should hold no relevance whatsoever.
Earlier this year, Emily took the lead in a daring advertising effort, titled “I’m requesting change,” which advocates for modifications in the legislation regarding rape and sexual assault.
Previously, the popular television personality delved into the concerning increase of cyber sexual harassment for a BBC2 documentary titled “Emily Atack: Seeking Consent,” due to ongoing daily abuse she encountered on her Instagram and TikTok platforms.
Emily mentioned that one of her frequent online harassers is a married man, who often sets up false accounts to send her inappropriate sexual content.
Previously, she clarified why she advocates for stringent anti-harassment legislation, as its effects significantly impact her and her family’s psychological wellbeing.
Emily further shared how the role of Sarah felt tailor-made for her. She explained, “When I initially read it, I experienced a sensation similar to when I first auditioned for Charlotte from The Inbetweeners. There was an instant sense of excitement in my stomach, as if to say, ‘This is just right for me.’
She mentioned that sometimes, certain opportunities arrive in life which seem tailor-made for you, as if they were meant just for you.
During our conversation, Emily expressed her enthusiasm for exploring various aspects of her character, mentioning it was a privilege to portray her.
She said: ‘Sarah’s extremely promiscuous, but she’s also funny. There’s a comedy edge there. It was such an honour to be able to play a role like that when women haven’t always been written very well, especially women like this.’
Emily mentioned that she could have made the character entirely stereotypical and unappealing, but instead, she found herself deeply attracted to the instantly likable role. She felt an innate connection to portray characters like this one.
The bold TV series draws inspiration from Jilly’s 1988 novel and delves into the ruthless landscape of television industry back in 1986.
The story focuses on the tense rivalry between Rupert Campbell-Black (Alex Hassell) and Lord Tony Baddingham (David Tennant) and stars Emily as Sarah Stratton.
The sexy character is described as ambitious and not afraid to use her looks to get to the top.
In the trailer, Tennant plays the ambitious and egotistical controller of Corinium Television and is a far cry from his usual jovial self.
He was spotted carrying a rifle, dressed in a tweed suit with a coordinating tie and flat cap, urging his companion to join him in firing the weapon, and using his recent fortune for their shared enjoyment.
In the opening scene of the trailer, Bella Maclean informs Aiden that “thrilling events are on the horizon for both of them,” establishing a pattern for the ensuing steamy storyline.
As a committed actor, I’ve embraced a new look for the show – a striking mustache – to slip into the role of TV presenter Declan O’Hara. In this character, I bring along my on-screen family to the lavish new estate owned by Lord Tony Baddingham, eagerly anticipating our next adventure together.
Declan is portrayed as exceptionally intelligent, yet equally passionate in his temperament. He was enticed to join Corinium TV, shifting from the BBC, by Tony.
However, as the story unfolds in the trailer, it becomes evident that Aiden engages in physical altercations to safeguard his daughter (portrayed by Bella Maclean) against arrogant nobles.
Characters like the former Olympian, parliament member, notorious flirt, and captivatingly charming Rupert Campbell-Black are present.
