Emily Atack playfully said she’s now happy to receive ibuprofen as a present, after waking up with a headache on her 36th birthday on Thursday.
The actress from The Rivals posted a playful selfie looking relaxed and a bit messy while having tea in bed. She’d just finished opening presents, including an expensive Burberry scarf.
She quipped: ’36 today, now accepting ibuprofen as a thoughtful gift.’
Emily was happily surprised with a cake and shared photos of herself blowing out the candles. She playfully captioned the post, ’36 years!’
The actress also spent time with her grandmother, Elizabeth Robbins, and her mother, Kate, who is a singer. The three of them shared a glass of sparkling wine to celebrate.
Friends and fans quickly sent birthday wishes, with messages like ‘Happy Birthday!’ from Leigh Francis, Laura Whitmore, and Clara Amfo.

Just a few days after Emily celebrated her fiancé Alistair Garner’s 40th birthday with a lively, alcohol-fueled weekend and a large party, this happened.
The television personality, who had a son named Barney with a scientist in June 2024, posted a quick video on Instagram showing off their lively celebration.
The couple started with a fancy dinner with Emily’s sister, Martha, who looks just like her, and some cocktails. They continued their trip by getting even more free drinks along the way.
Looking tired but cheerful, the two friends took a funny picture wearing their glasses. They shared it with a caption saying there was free prosecco, mince pies, and Jo Malone being given away at Saint Pancras station, and asked people to spread the word.
Emily, who got engaged in July, wore a black leather dress to Alex’s party. She shared a heartwarming video of the celebration, showing his guests singing to her.
She excitedly shared that they celebrated her partner’s 40th birthday last night. She expressed how grateful she was for the support of everyone who came, saying her partner is incredibly important to so many people.
Last month, she shared photos and updates from a bridal shop visit to Evelie, where her friends and sister helped her try on wedding dresses.
They excitedly announced the wedding preparations had started, sharing photos of the happy bride-to-be with captions like ‘weeeeeeeee <3’ and ‘it’s happening!’

She announced her engagement this summer on Instagram, sharing a sweet photo with her fiancé, Alistair, 39. The picture showed off her sparkling diamond ring, and she captioned it simply: ‘It’s Friday, I’m in love’.
The couple have been acquainted for nearly thirty years, as her mother and Alistair’s stepmother, Jane Garner, are sisters.
Emily and Alistair first met because their families connected when Emily’s aunt began dating Alistair’s father, Stephen Garner, in the early 1990s. They later married in 1994, but sadly, Stephen passed away in 2023, which was very difficult for Emily.
As someone who studies relationships, I’ve always been fascinated by the subtle cues people give about their connections. In her autobiography, Emily really opened up about what drew her to Alistair. She hinted that a strong sense of understanding – something she shares with her cousins – was a key factor. It’s like she needed that deep connection, that feeling of truly getting each other, in a romantic partner too.

She believes cousins are amazing – truly one of the best things ever, right up there with the Game Boy! They’re like a mix of siblings and friends. They share some family resemblance, but are still their own unique people.
You and this person share a very close understanding, and you’re slightly more polite or considerate towards them than you are with your siblings.
I feel lucky to have such a close relationship with my cousins – they’ve always been my best friends, and still are. It makes me a little sad that not everyone has that kind of bond with their family.
