Eman Esfandi clarifies rumors of his involvement in 'The Mandalorian & Grogu'

As a die-hard Star Wars fan who’s grown up with the franchise, I can hardly contain my excitement about “The Mandalorian and Grogu.” The mere mention of its title sends a thrill down my spine, and the thought of what might unfold on the silver screen has me gripped in anticipation.

At D23 2024 in August, it has been confirmed that production on ‘The Mandalorian and Grogu’ is currently taking place, as announced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni. While details of the film’s storyline are scarce at this point, eager fans can only guess about its content and potential appearances.

This isn’t necessarily a negative development, as it suggests there will be unexpected elements when the movie releases in May 2026. However, this hasn’t halted speculation about potential cameos. More recently, Eman Esfandi, who portrays Ezra Bridger in live-action, was reported to have said something at a fan convention, which has been circulating among YouTubers. Many believe that his statement could imply he’s participating in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

On the other hand, as reported by CinemaBlend, Esfandi clarified on Twitter that there was no truth to rumors suggesting his participation in the Mando movie, stating he had never confirmed any filming activities.

The account Esfandi was responding to deleted their original tweet. However, the rumors regarding Esfandi’s involvement in the Mando movie are still rife. Considering the film likely takes place after the events of Ahsoka Season 1, it’s not unreasonable to expect a cameo from Ezra Bridger, especially with his Star Wars Rebels mate, Zeb Orrelios, already confirmed for the film. Zeb was shown in a scene with Din Djarin and Grogu as part of a teaser from the movie shown to fans at D23 last month.

Ever since Ezra Bridger returned home and reconnected with Hera Syndulla and Chopper at the conclusion of Season 1 in “Ahsoka,” viewers have been eagerly speculating about his future involvement. Given that Grand Admiral Thrawn is back in action, as well as Ahsoka and Sabine being trapped on Peridea with no means of escape, this question leaves us intrigued. Potential answers to this question may emerge in either “The Mandalorian and Grogu” or Season 2 of “Ahsoka,” although filming for these series has yet to commence.

Eman Esfandi clarifies rumors of his involvement in 'The Mandalorian & Grogu'

Regarding Bridger’s appearance in “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” it’s logical that he would be included given his expertise on dealing with Grand Admiral Thrawn, a character who may pose a growing threat to the New Republic. As for the New Republic, Din Djarin will be working under Carson Teva to locate and apprehend Imperial Remnants in the upcoming movie. This could lead to all sorts of trouble for Din and Grogu during their journey.

It seems likely that Din Djarin may face a challenge requiring a Jedi’s guidance, as he currently knows only two Jedi – Ahsoka Tano and Luke Skywalker. Tano is stranded on Peridea, while Skywalker has other commitments. Thus, meeting with Ezra Bridger could be crucial in resolving the issue Din and Grogu face in the upcoming movie. Additionally, there’s a possibility that Ezra Bridger and Hera Syndulla might collaborate with Din Djarin to locate and rescue Ahsoka Tano, given her importance to their group.

Although Eman Esfandi claims he isn’t involved in the movie, some speculate it could be another instance of Andrew Garfield misleading us about his part – let’s wait and see if this proves to be true.

The Mandalorian and Grogu premieres in theaters on May 22, 2026.
