ELTON JOHN’S 45 MINUTE MELTDOWN

Elton John shared that he wept for nearly half an hour contemplating his eventual end, as he worked on a deeply moving track for his latest LP.

On March 25 (his 78th birthday), this music icon revealed that he experienced a profound awareness of his own mortality during work on a new track. This realization sparked a sense of apprehension in him as he worried about the limited time he may have remaining.

In the past, it was disclosed that Elton, prior to wrapping up his final tour in 2023, had experienced vision loss. An infection led to blindness in his right eye, and he has limited sight in his left.

During an appearance on the Smartless podcast, Elton shared how deeply moved he felt while singing his latest song “When This Old World Is Through with Me”.

He mentioned that he composed a track as the final piece on the album, titled “When This Old World Is Done With Me,” penned by Bernie Taupin. As he started penning the verses, he expressed, “Wow, this is quite beautiful.

Later on, I reach the chorus, and as expected, it revolves around my demise. As one nears a century in age, thoughts naturally turn to, ‘How many years do I have left?’

As a devoted follower, reflecting upon my own life, having children, a loving spouse, and pondering the fragility of existence often brings up deep thoughts. When I reached the chorus, emotions overwhelmed me, causing a 45-minute outpour of feelings that were all captured on film.

I couldn’t help but shed buckets of tears as I poured my heart into creating this album alongside the extraordinary Brandi Carlile. My emotional journey during that process was captured beautifully in the documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late,” which made its debut in October.

Brandi added: “I think everyone should witness it as it’s incredibly authentic, with deep imperfections and moments of mortification. It’s those actions we perform unaware of being filmed that make it truly intriguing.

At the close of the chorus, his voice trembled slightly, making me think, ‘It seems he’s about to reach a peak performance.’ Indeed, he delivered an exceptional moment.

During the interview, Elton mentioned that he hadn’t anticipated achieving success as a solo performer. He also referred to the album he made with Brandi as “the finest in forty years.

The album, titled Who Believes In Angels? Which is released on April 4.

The artist who creates hits remarked: “I never envisioned myself as a solo performer. As part of Bluesology, I took a significant leap by approaching Liberty Records and stating, ‘I wish to compose songs; I’m tired of being in a band that doesn’t seem interested in progressing, and I can also sing.’

Indeed, he handed over the envelope containing the lyrics penned by Bernie Taupin, a tale that has been told many times before.

In my experience as a lifestyle expert, when I penned down tunes, I found myself yearning for an audience. The written word just wasn’t enough satisfaction. Therefore, I ventured out to perform these compositions live. This necessitated the formation of a band, where we could bring the music to life together.

To be clear, I never imagined myself as the famous Elton John. Instead, things unfolded extremely fast for me.

It felt as if I had stumbled into a sweet shop, not fully comprehending that Elton John would become such a renowned figure. In truth, it all seemed rather serendipitous, quite delightful in its unplanned occurrence.

Earlier, it was unveiled that Elton had disclosed the authentic cause behind his heated recording room outburst, which occurred during his recent collaboration with partner and friend Brandi on a new project.

Even though his career has lasted over half a century, he confessed that he felt more uncertain than usual before entering the recording studio on this occasion.

In some striking moments captured in his documentary, the renowned pop artist can be observed angrily throwing down his headphones and ripping a sheet of music, while expressing dismay to stunned observers: “I’m leaving,” he declares, labeling the session as a “terrible ordeal.

In an interview with Scott Mills on BBC Radio 2, the celebrity revealed that he embarked on the writing journey from a state of profound self-doubt and was not in the best of spirits at the time.

In conversation with Brandi, he shared: “I was in an incredibly troubled state of uncertainty. I was exhausted, not feeling great, but once I overcame that vulnerable phase, everything changed and it was truly astonishing.

Sir Elton confessed: ‘I had more doubt on this record than I had ever had in my life.

I desired to make it unique. However, there’s no assurance that a studio visit will result in something extraordinary.

Without Brandi, Berni, and Andrew by my side, there’s no doubt that this record wouldn’t exist as it does today – I couldn’t have done it alone.

The powerful blend of energy, frustration, and apprehension in the room served as our inspiration for creating electrifying music.
