Elton John says a ‘severe eye infection’ has left him with ‘limited vision’ in one eye

On Tuesday, the artist who is known for “Crocodile Rock” and “Bennie and the Jets,” provided a health update. He mentioned that his recent absence from social media can be attributed to some health issues he’s been dealing with over the past few months.

This summer, I’ve been managing a severe eye condition that has unfortunately resulted in reduced vision in one of my eyes. I’m currently on the mend, but the recovery is slow and it will be a while before I regain full vision in the affected eye.

Over the past few weeks, the 77-year-old musician has been under the care of doctors, nurses, and family members. He’s been peacefully resting and recovering at his home during the summer months.

The legendary singer-songwriter has been dogged by health issues over the past few years.

Last summer, following his retirement from touring the previous year, John experienced a brief hospital stay after an accidental fall at his home on the French Riviera. Since concluding his record-breaking Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in July, he had been there with his husband David Furnish and their children, enjoying the summer.

As a movie critic, I must say, the sight of Sir Elton John wheeling around in a chair sent shivers down the spines of his devoted fans back in 2022. But fear not, dear spectators! It turns out that the legendary “Rocket Man” was merely taking it easy on his hip after a smashing performance in Bern and during transit through Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany.

The renowned British artist was one of numerous musicians whose concerts were postponed in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In January 2022, shortly after restarting his final tour and even though he had been vaccinated and received boosters, he had to call off shows in Dallas due to “mild illness” after testing positive for COVID-19.
