Elton John fans left in tears over emotional duet with Dua Lipa amid his numerous health woes and eyesight loss

As a long-time fan of both Elton John and Dua Lipa, I must say that witnessing their collaboration at the Royal Albert Hall was nothing short of magical. The energy in the room was electric, with the crowd singing and dancing along to each note played by the orchestra and each word sung by Dua.

Fans of Sir Elton John were moved to tears by his poignant duet with Dua Lipa, which took place during her concert special on Sunday.

The legendary musician, 77, recently admitted he has not been able to see out of his right eye for months, and his left eye ‘is not the greatest’ and also underwent a knee replacement in January. 

For the majority of his act during the filming at the Royal Albert Hall on October 17th, he opted to stay seated.

The ITV special showcasing their friendship with Dua, aged 29, was widely praised by viewers as “extraordinarily heartwarming” as they performed their number one duet titled Cold Heart together.

Fans expressed their thoughts as follows: ‘At long last, this was the dual performance I had been anticipating at Glastonbury when Elton John and Dua Lipa headlined successively. Better late than never!’; ‘I’m delighted about the friendship between Dua Lipa and Elton John.’

‘The friendship between Sir Elton John and Dua is so precious’; ‘The way that a legend like Elton John talks about Dua with such affection and praise? Dua’s building a career for the history books – mark my words.’

Another added: ‘It’s so crazy to me how easily Dua and Elton became besties I love them so much also it’s time for a new collab please.’  

After his performance, Elton was gracefully escorted away from the stage, leaving his audience with a clear understanding of the hurdles he encounters following his vision loss.

At the Royal Albert Hall, a production assistant extended a comforting hand for the singer to grasp as he navigated his path backstage.

In the special event “An Evening with Dua Lipa”, she greeted Elton John by saying, “Let’s give a warm welcome to someone who doesn’t need any introductions, it’s Elton John!

As the concluding chorus of their popular song “Cold Heart” played out, Sir Elton momentarily rose, subtly rocking to the rhythm, while keeping his feet rooted in place.

At the conclusion of the song, the creator of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road gestured towards the singer of Houdini, raising his hand high. It wasn’t until she noticed his intention that he desired her to grasp it.

His emotional performance was capped by a kiss on the cheek from Dua before Sir Elton was carefully escorted offstage.

Attendees characterized the ambiance as buzzing, with one sharing to The Mail: “The connection between Elton and Dua was genuinely heartwarming and delightful to witness. It’s clear they share a deep affection for each other, and experiencing that live made it truly unique.

In my professional opinion, it’s clear that his vibrant stage presence from days past might have waned, requiring assistance to take the spotlight and even a seat during performance. However, let me assure you, his vocal prowess remained unyielding, delivering performances as moving and captivating as ever. The auditorium resonated with raw emotion, a testament to the enduring power of his talent.

It was both sad and joyful to witness him facing some challenges, as I wasn’t fully aware of the extent of his vision impairment, yet it’s astounding how he manages to craft such an impressive atmosphere in such a prestigious setting.

A different concert-goer at the Royal Albert Hall expressed: ‘Experiencing Elton John perform live was astonishing! We were beyond thrilled to witness him, and it left us utterly amazed that he attended.’

It was deeply moving to see him, as I knew his health and stability were declining; he needed assistance most of the time during ‘Cold Heart’, being guided by the hand and seated on a stool for much of it.

It was clear how much the performance mattered to him; by the end of the song, he was dancing hand-in-hand with Dua, joined by the whole crowd. His voice stayed powerful and captivating throughout, never losing its allure.

The audience was utterly captivated throughout: we danced and sang in sync with Dua and the orchestra right from the start. Yet, Elton John’s unexpected appearance turned the evening into an unforgettable highlight.

This recent show is a continuation after Sir Elton openly confessed about losing his vision due to a serious infection he encountered earlier this year.

At the London debut of “The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical,” he openly discussed his battles with a specific health issue, expressing gratitude towards his partner, David Furnish, for his steadfast encouragement.

Sir Elton shared that he’s now living without his sight, but he’s adapted marvelously. He finds himself leaning more on sounds rather than visual cues to appreciate live shows.

At the curtain call of the musical, Sir Elton was assisted onstage by David, 62.

She mentioned that she was grateful for her spouse, who has been a source of strength, as she hasn’t been able to attend many previews due to losing her sight.

‘It’s hard for me to see it but I love to hear it.’

In the grandeur of that concert setting, I took center stage to deliver an extraordinary performance, where 19 of my hits were metamorphosed by the harmonious blend of a 53-piece orchestra and a 14-strong choir, all accompanied by my trusted seven-piece band. Quite a symphony, wasn’t it?

Additionally, during the performance, Dance The Night made its first appearance, being part of the score for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming Barbie movie.
