Ellie and Dina’s Dangerous Journey to Lakehill
In this installment of The Last of Us Season 2, episode 4, we delve into the events that unfold at the conclusion, providing insights about Ellie and Dina’s intended destination, Lakehill. The remainder of season 2 is anticipated to focus on their journey through Seattle, a move initiated three months after Abby took Joel’s life. In this episode, Ellie and Dina grapple with locating Abby within the sprawling metropolis, only to confront treacherous WLF troops and swarms of Infected instead.
In episode 4 of The Last of Us season 2, we’re introduced to Jeffrey Wright’s character, Isaac, through a flashback sequence at the beginning. This segment delves into Isaac’s backstory. Subsequently, the narrative returns to the series’ primary timeline, where Ellie and Dina are scavenging Seattle for supplies.
As they traverse the city, they stumble upon a tower that bears the letters “WLF” on a satellite dish. Intrigued, they decide to investigate. Upon their arrival, they encounter a chilling sight that triggers a nerve-wracking escape from the tower.
Why Ellie & Dina Decide To Head To Lakehill
They Learn About It From A Radio
At the conclusion of episode 4 in season 2 of “The Last of Us,” Ellie and Dina successfully exit the tower and train station. In a rush, they flee the area and seek shelter in a nearby theater that’s been abandoned. Using a walkie talkie, they pick up chatter from WLF members about a location called Lakehill. This intel gives them the knowledge that someone is there, potentially Abby. However, their hasty escape has left them disoriented, making it unclear if they can head straight to Lakehill.
Consequently, they choose to ascend to the rooftop theater in search of a superior viewpoint. Upon reaching it, Dina and Ellie consult their map to determine the location of Lakehill. Yet, gunfire echoes and explosions light up from that vicinity. Nonetheless, they resolve to proceed towards it, bringing the narrative to a close as they opt to venture into the war zone in search of Abby.
Who The WLF Is Fighting At Lakehill
Is It Infected Or Seraphites?
As a dedicated cinephile, I can’t help but speculate about the ongoing conflict between Ellie and Dina and the mysterious Lakehill group, the WLF, in ‘The Last of Us’. While their adversaries aren’t explicitly shown, my best guess is that they are clashing with the Seraphites, a religious cult we were introduced to in season 2, episode 3. The Seraphites, who control another part of Seattle, have been at odds with the WLF over the region’s dominion. In fact, Isaac, one of our main characters, even interrogates a Seraphite early in the episode.
The WLF’s ruthless attack on a Seraphite caravan in episode 3 and the Seraphites’ retaliatory massacre of WLF soldiers in episode 4 suggest this theory might hold some truth. It’s an intriguing development that keeps me eagerly awaiting each new episode!
Alternatively, in The Last of Us Part II, a significant portion of what the WLF does that Ellie and Dina encounter might involve combating Infected at various locations within Seattle. Maintaining control over the Infected is a considerable undertaking given the vastness of Seattle. It’s possible that when Ellie and Dina hear about the WLF dealing with Lakeside, they could just be clearing out an infected area, as evidenced by the large amount of ammunition being used, which suggests the magnitude of the Infected threat.
Who Jeffrey Wright’s New Isaac Character Is & What His Role Is In The WLF
Based On His Flashback
In episode 4 of The Last of Us season 2, we are introduced to a character named Isaac, who was once an FEDRA agent but turned rogue and joined the resistance in Seattle. Jeffrey Wright’s portrayal of Isaac is based on his role as a character from the game, where he served as the leader of the WLF during The Last of Us Part II. Although his exact role in the main story of season 2 has yet to be revealed, his leadership over the WLF suggests that he will likely be a significant antagonist for Ellie and Dina. A particularly chilling interrogation scene hints at Isaac’s menacing nature, establishing him as a formidable adversary for our protagonists.
Why Ellie Reveals Her Immunity
A New Bite Forces Her To
In the fourth episode of season 2 from the series “The Last of Us”, Ellie discloses her resistance to the Cordyceps infection to Dina for the first time. Although Ellie’s immunity is a key aspect of her character, she had been keeping it a secret up until this point. During their desperate escape from an infected horde in the subway system, Ellie gets bitten by one of the infected. This shocking event makes Dina believe that she must now end Ellie’s life. Confronted with this grim reality, Ellie is compelled to share her immunity with Dina, which ultimately leads to a significant revelation from Dina herself.
Intriguingly, the way Ellie’s immunity unfolds differs significantly in the game that ‘The Last of Us’ season 2 is adapted from. In ‘The Last of Us Part II’, during the subway sequence, Ellie gets injured and her mask shatters, exposing her to spores, a means by which humans can become infected. Dina perceives this as a fatal injury for Ellie. However, due to Ellie’s immunity, these spores have no effect on her, thus revealing the truth to Ellie. Since spores are absent in HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’, episode 4 needed to alter the way this revelation unfolds.
What Dina’s Pregnancy Means For The Last Of Us Season 2
Will It Make Their Journey Harder?
Following Ellie’s disclosure about her immunity, Dina shares a significant revelation with Ellie: she is expecting a child. It was discovered in episode 4 that Jesse fathered Dina’s pregnancy before they departed from Jackson, as confirmed by some pregnancy tests she found. Dina’s pregnancy could potentially create challenges throughout the remainder of The Last of Us season 2, as the sickness and other complications that come with pregnancy might make Ellie and Dina’s journey even more challenging, introducing another layer of conflict to their adventure.
Where Has Abby Been In The Last Of Us Season 2
Based On The Video Game
For the past two episodes, Ellie and Dina have been searching for Abby, causing some viewers to wonder about her whereabouts. Fortunately, “The Last of Us Part II” provides explanations. Instead of following Ellie in Seattle, the game unexpectedly switches perspectives, allowing players to control Abby. During these three days, the narrative reveals what Abby was doing concurrently with Ellie. On Abby’s first day back in Seattle, she is still adjusting to her return and learns that her friend Owen allegedly shot a WLF soldier. In search of Owen, Abby embarks on a pursuit. Although this part of the story hasn’t been fully revealed yet, it may be explored further in future episodes of “The Last of Us” season 2.
