Ellen Pompeo reveals one frustration with Grey’s Anatomy fans: “I do get a little bit annoyed”
Ellen Pompeo has shared an annoyance she experiences with Grey’s Anatomy fans.
The actor has been a part of each season of the cherished medical series that first aired in 2005, portraying Meredith Grey, contradicting persistent whispers throughout the years about her potential departure from the role.
In a recent conversation, Ellen candidly discussed her experiences with viewers of the program and something particular that she doesn’t take kindly to.

In an interview with Magic Radio, Ellen was queried about the number of individuals who call her by her actual name versus those who know her as Meredith.
She gratefully acknowledges the show and her fans, expressing affection towards them. However, if someone refers to her as ‘Meredith’, it does irk her slightly, she openly confessed.
“I love that you love the show, but please call me by my right name.”
Moreover, she added that she doesn’t let mistakes bother her greatly, as she’s deeply touched by the affection fans have for the actor and the enduring television series.
As a devoted fan, I echo Ellen’s sentiments that the controversial musical episode ‘Song Beneath the Song’ on Grey’s Anatomy, broadcasted back in 2011, felt like the final chapter to me.
Initially, I figured, ‘As medical professionals, discussing car accidents, that’s the end of our unique act.’ Yet, I’m incredibly thankful it didn’t turn out that way.”
Or simply:
“I assumed, ‘We’re doctors, talking about car crashes, we’ve reached the end.’ But I’m so relieved it didn’t happen.
After discussing her role on the program and possible speculation about her departure, the actress provided a straightforward denial of any plans to step down in the future.
“That would make no sense, emotionally or financially,” she told El País.
In the year 2024, the show was viewed an astounding number of times, surpassing the billion-view mark. This massive viewership generated substantial income for the companies responsible for broadcasting the show, primarily through the use of our likenesses, voices, and appearances.
As a gamer, if I were to step back entirely, others would reap profits from my two decades of dedication and sweat equity, while I’d see none of it.
She added: “It seems unfair to me that everyone else benefits from my efforts. On an emotional level, the program holds significant value for many. I wish to maintain an attitude of thankfulness towards it.
In the United States, you can catch season 21 of Grey’s Anatomy every Thursday at 10pm Eastern Time on ABC television network. If you haven’t seen the previous seasons, you can stream them on Disney+ in the UK.
