Ellen DeGeneres slammed by comic icon who says ‘creepy and weird’ talk-show star was ‘not nice’ to them
An established stand-up comedian is sharing a candid, less-than-favorable perspective about their experiences with Ellen DeGeneres.
For close to twenty years, Ellen DeGeneres dominated the daytime television scene until her talk show concluded in 2022 under a wave of accusations regarding its supposedly harmful workplace atmosphere.
67-year-old recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom continues to assert that her departure from the entertainment industry was due to being perceived as too harsh or unkind.
Currently, Ellen, who built her reputation around being the “Queen of Kindness,” is once more facing questions about her benevolence, this time due to comments made by comedian Margaret Cho.
According to Margaret, who is now 56 years old, Ellen was often very odd and quite unkind towards her throughout the majority of their professional relationship.
DailyMail.com has contacted Ellen’s representatives for comment but hasn’t heard back yet.
I reminisced about our history, tracing it back to when we were both up-and-coming comedians. It wasn’t until the late 1980s that Ellen made a significant breakthrough, becoming widely recognized across the nation due to her successful stint on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
Back in the ’80s, I had the incredible opportunity to warm up the stage for this comedy legend when she was still rising through the ranks, long before her stardom skyrocketed. That’s a memory I’ll always cherish!
In a later encounter when I appeared on her talk show in the 2000s, she seemed as if we had never met before. I was taken aback and thought to myself, “That’s strange.”… Indeed, our history goes way back, she explained, using terms like ‘creepy’ and ‘weird’ to describe Ellen’s behavior.
Later, she claimed that during David Bowie’s visit to Ellen’s show, he was overly thrilled because the previous evening, someone had attended his concert dressed in a large, ornate costume resembling a Chinese emperor.
Oh my goodness, I was absolutely ecstatic when he shared his passion for this particular topic, talking about it in such detail that left me captivated. However, learning that it wasn’t going to be included in the show just sent me over the edge with frustration!
As an ardent fan, I’ve got to share this intriguing revelation: A close friend in the producer’s chair reached out to me, utterly astounded. “I can hardly believe it,” he said, “but she edited out a part that was all about you! It seems you were the talk of the production set. He raved about your style and couldn’t stop praising you. In fact, he mentioned that ‘God said your name.’
Margaret felt that Ellen’s action of deleting the footage came across as impolite, yet she admitted that it might not have been a personal attack, perhaps due to time constraints. However, given her decision, Margaret will choose to interpret it as a personal slight.
Following the conclusion of Ellen’s show in 2022 amidst a whirlwind of controversy surrounding her backstage behavior towards staff, she primarily stepped away from the limelight.

In the tranquil community of Montecito, nestled within Santa Barbara, they – she and her partner Portia de Rossi – generally kept their lives out of the public eye. Notable figures like Oprah Winfrey, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, as well as Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom, also call this exclusive neighborhood home.
Last year, she made a return to the stage, embarking on a tour titled “Ellen’s Last Stand…Up.” This live performance was later recorded for a Netflix special named “For Your Approval.
During her tour promotion, she acknowledged the controversy that had impacted her career by stating that she felt ‘excluded from the entertainment industry’ due to being perceived as ‘rude’.
She remembered thinking: ‘The hostility persisted for quite some time, and I’d make an effort to steer clear of the news. The so-called “kind girl” proved unkind, as reported in Rolling Stone.’
In a sarcastic tone, she remarked, “Apparently, there aren’t any selfish folks in the entertainment industry.” She went on to explain that she had transformed into a one-dimensional persona, always giving things away and dancing up stairs.
Ellen playfully commented, “Is it tough to dance on stairs? Only someone unkind would do that. If I had concluded my performance with ‘Have a nice day,’ people might have been taken aback.
She admitted that she wasn’t familiar with being a leader, explaining that she honed her professional skills at ‘Charlie’s Chuckle Hut’, not through formal education in business school.
As a devoted admirer, I found myself amidst the bustling Warner Brothers lot, where the show known as ‘Ellen’ was being filmed. Everyone around me was adorned with T-shirts bearing her name, and buildings proudly displayed the same moniker. However, despite these obvious signs of affiliation, I couldn’t help but wonder if my association with the show meant that I was somehow in a position of authority.
