Sophia Grace Brownlee has announced she is expecting baby number two.
Brownlee, 21, revealed her pregnancy in a YouTube video posted to her account on Sunday.
Brownlee gained widespread recognition when she made a splashy appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres Show at the age of eight, singing a track by Nicki Minaj with her then five-year-old cousin Rosie McClelland. Today, Rosie is 17 years old.
The YouTube sensation welcomed her first child, a son named River, last year.
As I unveil today’s topic, I’m thrilled to announce that we’re expanding our family – baby number two is on the way! It’s been a secret I’ve carried for quite some time now. In fact, a few of you have been sharp-eyed enough to pick up on hints in the comments. And finally, it’s with great pleasure that I can confirm your suspicions!
She mentioned that she’s roughly at the 19-week mark, nearing 20 weeks, and has completed both of her check-ups. So far, everything looks good.
She explained that due to her being extremely cautious and apprehensive, she prefers to wait until she’s approximately halfway through a pregnancy, which is around the 20-week mark. Almost there, she added.
‘So I thought it would be the perfect time to announce it,’ she shared.
‘I’m actually finding out the gender today, and that video will be coming soon,’ she also revealed.
‘I’m only around 20 weeks right now but I do have a little bit of a bump already,’ she said.
Brownlee expressed her joy in providing her son with a big brother, stating, ‘Since they’re nearly the same age, they can grow up side by side, which I find incredibly charming. Growing up, I always wished for a sibling close in age, and I didn’t have that experience. So, I want to give River that special bond.’
Over a decade back, the first video of cousins Sophia Grace and Rosie, both natives of Britain, gained widespread popularity after their parents shared a clip of them performing a cover of Nicki Minaj’s popular track “Super Bass.”
Following this, they frequently showed up on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, winning over the influential comedian with their endearing accents, spunky characters, and fondness for pink tutus.
The young girls instantly became a sensation and continued to be one of Ellen’s favourite acts.
Ellen frequently invited Sophia Grace and Rosie onto her program, introducing the young ladies to their idol celebrities, thereby transforming them into reporters for red carpet events.
Eventually, the charming cousins received their very own segment titled “Tea Time with Sophia Grace and Rosie.” During this show, they had the opportunity to interview an array of stars such as Miley Cyrus and Hugh Grant.
