Elizabeth Olsen’s future with Marvel movies is now uncertain. Her new show, Seven Sisters, is moving ahead on Hulu, which likely means less time for her to reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff, also known as Scarlet Witch. Olsen first became popular with Marvel fans in Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014) and most recently appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022).
Fans have been eagerly waiting to find out when Elizabeth Olsen will reprise her role as Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While she hasn’t been officially announced for the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday (2026) or Secret Wars (2027) movies, many believe she’ll appear in the Disney+ series VisionQuest, which is expected to premiere in late 2026.
Elizabeth Olsen’s plans to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been put on hold. Her new FX show, Seven Sisters, is coming to Hulu, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show received a pilot order in March 2025 and reunites Olsen with the director of her film Martha Marcy May Marlene.

Seven Sisters tells the story of a close family falling apart and being forced to deal with hidden truths when one sister begins to hear a mysterious voice that no one else can.
The cast features Elizabeth Olsen, who was nominated for an Emmy for her role in WandaVision, along with Cristin Milioti, a recent Emmy winner known for The Penguin. Also starring are J. Smith-Cameron, an Emmy nominee twice over for Succession, and Anthony Edwards, with four Emmy nominations for ER. Rounding out the ensemble are Meredith Hagner, Odessa Young, Zoë Winters, Bridget Brown, Carolyn Kettig, Philip Ettinger, and Ryan Eggold.
Will Arbery, Garrett Basch, and Sean Durkin are executive producers on the project. Gina Balian, president of FX Entertainment, made the following announcement:
I’ve been searching for a really good family drama, and when Will Arbery and Garrett Basch created Seven Sisters, it immediately felt like something special for FX. It’s so relatable – it really gets into the complex relationships between grown siblings and their parents – but it does it in a way that’s fresh, bold, and completely throws you for a loop. The actors are phenomenal, and they bring all the family’s hidden secrets to life. Honestly, it’s the kind of show that pulls you in and keeps you guessing right up to the very end.
In a past conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Olsen talked about the experience of working with director Sean Durkin again for the first episode.
It was surprisingly enjoyable. It felt great reconnecting and collaborating with everyone after all these years – we’d all grown so much, both personally and professionally, since we last worked together.
Besides her work on Seven Sisters, Elizabeth Olsen is currently developing several other projects, including the thriller Flesh of the Gods, Todd Solondz’s Love Child, and the TV series Once There Were Wolves. This busy schedule suggests she may not have time to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon.
