Elizabeth Olsen leads an ensemble cast including Cristin Milioti, known for her Emmy-winning role in The Penguin, along with Odessa Young, Zoë Winters from Succession, Meredith Hagner, Bridget Brown, and Carolyn Kettig, playing the central group of sisters.

J. Smith-Cameron and Anthony Edwards, known for his role on ER, play the parents, with Philip Ettinger as their son and Ryan Eggold (from New Amsterdam) as Adrienne’s husband.

The first episode of the series brought together Elizabeth Olsen and director Sean Durkin, who previously worked together on Olsen’s breakout film, the critically praised thriller Martha Marcy May Marlene.

Seven Sisters is created by Will Arbery, a playwright also known for being a writer on Succession.

Details about the show’s surprising turn of events are still scarce. However, FX Entertainment president Gina Balian hinted to Deadline that the new series will keep audiences on the edge of their seats right up to the finale.

FX was searching for a strong family drama, and they believe Will Arbery and Garrett Basch’s Seven Sisters perfectly fits the bill, according to a statement from Balian.

This story beautifully captures the complex relationships between adult siblings and their parents, but it does so in a fresh, surprising, and unique way.

These talented actors brilliantly portray a family’s hidden secrets, captivating viewers and keeping them on the edge of their seats until the final moments.

Arbery announced the series had been greenlit on Instagram, playfully adding, “Wish me luck – I’m making a TV show!”

Meanwhile, star Cameron praised the “compelling” script and Durkin’s direction.

The actor shared their excitement, saying the pilot script was captivating and Sean’s creative direction – especially the visuals, rhythm, and overall feel – was incredibly intriguing. They expressed immense joy at the news that the project had been officially approved.

Seven Sisters is set to air on FX in the US. Transmission details for the UK are to be confirmed.
