Scarlet Witch has had many memorable moments in both Marvel comics and films. But Elizabeth Olsen, who has played Wanda Maximoff since her first appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron, says there’s one line she’s always wanted to deliver. And she’s right – if she ever got the chance, it would be incredibly powerful.
Elizabeth Olsen recently appeared on the YouTube series “Let’s Unpack That” from InStyle, where she shared career highlights and memories. She pulled items from a carry-on bag she’s had since 2012, including a Funko Pop figure of her character, Wanda. The figure featured a speech bubble with the line “No More Mutants”—a famous phrase that sparked a major storyline in Marvel Comics. Olsen revealed that she still hopes to see that line incorporated into a future Marvel Cinematic Universe project, saying:
I previously talked about playing Scarlet Witch, and there’s a fantastic line she delivers in the ‘House of M’ storyline – ‘No more mutants.’ I’ve always wanted to get the chance to say that line.
For dedicated Marvel fans, hearing Elizabeth Olsen speak those words felt like a momentous occasion, similar to Captain America finally declaring, “Avengers Assemble.” It’s more than just a famous line; it’s the defining line from the 2005 House of M comic book series. In that story, Wanda Maximoff reaches her limit and alters reality by saying those three words, tragically eliminating most mutants and causing massive repercussions throughout the Marvel Multiverse.

It’s particularly intriguing that Olsen aimed to create such a powerful scene, considering Wanda’s ambiguous fate at the conclusion of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While it appeared she was defeated, most fans doubt Marvel would permanently eliminate such a formidable character. In fact, the current Multiverse Saga seems to highlight Wanda’s importance to the overall story and its themes.
Considering Marvel Studios is gradually introducing mutants into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with shows like Ms. Marvel and The Marvels, the X-Men ’97 connections, Hugh Jackman reprising his role as Wolverine in Deadpool & Wolverine, and the return of characters from the Fox-era Avengers: Doomsday films, now is the perfect time to highlight Wanda’s rich history from the comics.

Disney+ offers a wide range of Marvel Cinematic Universe content, including plenty for fans of Scarlet Witch. You can subscribe for as little as $11.99 per month with ads. An ad-free plan costs $18.99 monthly, or you can save 16% by paying $189.99 for a full year. See the deal here.
Imagine Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff returning in a future Marvel movie or Disney+ series, struggling with a shifting reality, and finally saying those three crucial words – it would be an iconic moment for the franchise. However, it doesn’t make sense for Wanda to suddenly start eliminating mutants now that the MCU is beginning to introduce them. If Marvel does decide to go that route, it will likely be several years and after a significant introduction of the X-Men.

It’s still uncertain if Marvel Studios will actually adapt the House of M storyline—or a new take on it. However, with the actor behind the suggestion actively expressing interest, and Marvel’s history of considering input from its stars, there’s hope they’ll do it. A storyline featuring “No more mutants” would be a huge, memorable moment for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Elizabeth Olsen’s latest film, Eternity, comes out in theaters on November 26, 2025. Check your local movie listings for showtimes. If you’re a fan of her role as the Scarlet Witch, you can also stream her previous Marvel movies and TV shows on Disney+.
