Elizabeth Olsen on if she will appear as Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Doomsday

While promoting her new film, Eternity, Elizabeth Olsen discussed her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with The Playlist. She expressed pride in the work they’ve accomplished, but remained uncertain about her future involvement. When asked about appearing in a potential team-up movie, she explained that she’s currently waiting to see if her character will be brought back, as she appreciates the direction the story has taken and hopes to continue the journey.

Elizabeth Olsen enjoys playing the Scarlet Witch, but she confirmed there aren’t any current plans for her character to appear in multiverse-related projects. While she’d be happy to revisit the role sometime, she doesn’t know when or if that will happen, suggesting she won’t be involved in any immediate, large-scale events like a ‘Doomsday’ scenario.

Filming for Avengers: Doomsday finished in mid-September 2025. While Elizabeth Olsen has said she won’t be in it, Marvel is known for keeping surprises, so fans are still wondering if she might make a cameo. Some believe she could follow a similar path to Andrew Garfield and appear in a future Avengers film. The movie is scheduled to come out on December 18, 2026, after some additional filming for Avengers: Secret Wars in spring 2026.

Beyond her work in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Elizabeth Olsen is now choosing more independent and creatively ambitious films. One such project is “Love Child,” a darkly humorous movie directed by Todd Solondz, where she stars in a story about a boy trying to get his mother and a boarder to fall in love after his father has a close call with death.

Elizabeth Olsen is also starring in Panos Cosmatos’ upcoming film, Flesh of the Gods, a visually striking 1980s vampire thriller with Kristen Stewart and Oscar Isaac. Olsen shared that she’s prioritizing projects with substance over simply appearing in big franchises, and wants to create work that resonates with and reflects modern society.

Both movies are still being made, and this shows Elizabeth Olsen is focusing more on smaller, director-driven projects.
