Eliza Coupe Slams Critics Over Shocking Red Carpet Look: ‘This Is Me!’

Actress Eliza Coupe, known for her role in Scrubs, responded following the widespread worry triggered by her appearance at the recent Netflix premiere.

At the premiere of “The Residence,” the actress, aged 43, appeared almost unmatched to her previous looks, adopting a stylishly messy yet chic appearance. She donned striking eye makeup and wore a dazzling golden sequin dress that showcased more skin.

A few days following her surprising red carpet event, Coupe boldly posted a collection of selfies and videos on Instagram, stating, “” or “This is truly how I appear!

She titled her post: “Photos from my last three weeks on camera roll. #thisistherealme

Embrace truth, disregard haters, choose love, remember who you are, transform and elevate yourself, rise above, and let your love shine brightly.

She also claimed the photos had been ‘wildly altered.’ 

The videos showed the star playfully grimacing and smiling – with fans having a mixed reaction.

While some admired the star as ‘stunningly beautiful’ and ‘spectacular’, others shared their concern by saying, “My dear lady, you possess great beauty, yet it seems you’re not at your best currently.

‘I hope you’re okay, I hope you get the help you need.’

The Residence is a mystery drama series created by Paul William Davies.

In the show, she assumes the role of Margery Bay Bix, a character who’s part of a storyline focusing on the private lives of the White House staff and their interactions with the First Family, as they coexist within the White House residence.

Actress Uzo Aduba from Orange Is The New Black heads up an impressive ensemble that includes Barrett Foa, Edwina Findley, Juliette Jeffers, Al Mitchell, Bret Tucker, Jodi Bianca Wise, Paul Fitzgerald, Sumalee Montano, J.D. Hall, Julieth Restrepo, and James Babson.

The Coupe individual is open about delving into their spiritual journey, notably their encounters with ayahuasca, which is a potent concoction renowned for its claimed healing properties and vivid hallucinations.

The popularity of using the drug grew following quarterback Aaron Rodgers sharing his personal experiences with it in the Netflix documentary titled Enigma.

In the past month, during an episode of The Funny Thing Is podcast, it was disclosed that she resorted to a plant-derived psychedelic substance as a means of purging ‘negative energy’ after her 2018 separation from Darin Olien.

She openly shared that she had partaken in ayahuasca on two separate occasions. During the second instance, she ingested about four cups of the concoction.

She remembered that she began crying uncontrollably, and it was quite extraordinary, she said. Then, I managed to glimpse the intricate mechanisms within myself.

Though she described the experience as transformative, she has no plans to revisit it.

‘I look back at it now and am so grateful I did it, but it doesn’t call for me to do it again.’

‘Some may call it an eating disorder, I just call it my life,’ she continued. 

My go-to substance has always been food. I gave up alcohol by joining a 12-step program focused on food.

For seven years, she meticulously weighed out every meal as part of the program.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but express my heartfelt appreciation for the invaluable lessons and tools I’ve gained from this experience. However, I must also confess that my journey has been more complex than just learning about dietary restrictions.

‘I would over-exercise, and there was a sprinkle of bulimia in there.

Over the past few years, Coupe has found solace in her spiritual journey, often posting reflections from Joshua Tree, California, a place where she’s been crafting her upcoming self-help book titled “Coyote Woman and the Journey of Soul Contracts.

She additionally published “Jot it Down: A Guided Journaling Book,” a resource intended to assist readers in organizing their ideas and feelings through introspective writing.

Beyond her career and spiritual endeavors, Coupe has found love again. 

2023 saw her expressing deep admiration for her partner, the renowned skateboarder Billy Marks, through an emotional Instagram message.

She penned, ‘My husband is a magnificent sorcerer, and he’s not just my dearest companion but also the embodiment of every love I’ve ever known.’ His essence has always helped me recall my true self.
